Before 1973 polar bear populations decreased due to hunting by Russians, Europeans, and Americans. In 2005 the polar bear was moved from least concerned to vulnerable on the endangered list.
If we don't make a change in our climate then we will lose our polar bears. If we do change our climate polar bears have a chance of surviving.
vulnerable means that an animal species may possibly become extinct or endangered.
Threatened means that an animal species will have a really high chance of becoming extinct.
