Meiosis!
Two different cell division stages:
Interphase:
Before meiosis begins, genetic material is duplicated.
Meiosis I
Prophase I:
The duplicated chromatin condenses and each chromosome consists of two closely associated sister chromatids.
Metaphase I:
The homologous chromosomes align(equilateral plate)
Anaphase I:
The homologous pairs separate with sister chromatids remaining together.
Telophase :
2 daughter cells are formed with each sister containing only one chromosome of the homologous pair.
Meiosis II
Gamete Formation
Prophase 2:
DNA does not replicate
Metaphase 2:
chromosomes align at equilateral plate
Anaphase 2: Centromeres divide & sister chromatids move separately to each opposite pole.
Telophase 2:
Cell Division Complete!
