What is ArcGIS Enterprise?

ArcGIS

Desktop

  • 10.4.1 and prior:
  • ArcGIS Data Store
  • ArcGIS Server
  • Portal for ArcGIS
  • ArcGIS Web Adapter
  • ArcGIS Enterprise - All components combined

What's the Difference?

  • Portal for ArcGIS is required for publishing services from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Server
  • ArcGIS Server must be federated with Portal
  • Once ArcGIS Server is federated with Portal permissions and sharing access of ArcGIS Server services are controlled by Portal
  • Publishing services through ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop automatically creates an item in Portal
  • "Web Layers" - symboloy, popup, access configuration
  • Start with a base deployment - Server, Portal, Data Store, and Web Adaptor (2)
  • Can connect AGOL service - geocoder
