What are the similarities / differences between two of the clips?

I Hope you enjoyed my Prezi version of my Media Summer Task

Opening sequence from the film “Casino Royale” (2006).

Title sequence from the film “L.A. Confidential” (1997).

And title sequence from the video game “L.A. Noire” (2011).

Similarities between the clips from the movie “L.A. Confidential” and the video game “L.A. Noire” is that the costumes and props are similar, in the L.A. Confidential clip, it shows 1940’s gangster style costumes, which consists of a formal suit, hat and possibly a long, brown trench coat, this is mostly seen through the male characters, while the females are dressed in seductive dresses, which can be revealing and to promote the female stereotype. Similarly, the displayed characters from L.A Noire are seen to be wearing formal clothing, which can create the sense of mystery and also to be seen in the high class category of a person, the clip also uses seductive clothing on females too, which links back to the similar ideas to the clothing in L.A. Confidential.

Another similarity between the two clips is the style of music, throughout the opening sequence of L.A. Confidential, the audience can hear a non-diegetic 1940’s style blues soundtrack, this adds realism to the clip and also to create a match towards the genre of the movie. L.A. Noire also uses 1940’s style music, this was done to create suspense and mystery before the game is able to be played, this is also done to create a realistic and mysterious feeling towards the player before engaging into gameplay.

What are the similarities / differences between two of the clips?

One of the differences between the clips is that L.A. Confidential uses a black and while filter throughout the opening, this was done to produce a classic format for the film, and to match to the 1940’s style. However, L.A. Noire uses a full colour filter with dark, shadow like filters, this was done to create a sense of suspense before the game and to create a sense of mystery and tension.

A final difference between the two clips is that L.A. Confidential uses narration (narrated by Danny De Vito) during the opening sequence of the movie, this was done to establish the storyline and to match the 1940’s style, this was done through the accent of the voice and the storyline of breaking the law and gang deals and fights. However, L.A. Noire uses no narration until the gameplay begins, this was done to create tension and mystery while waiting for the game to begin.
