15:53 part 1 interview with family

Part 1 34:30 Holocaust

44 min. use of terror techniques part 1

24:56 part 2 john mccain

Moazzam Begg was a torture victim

at the same time of Diliwar, in the military

prison.

In both situations the director used the medium

shot to associate the people with innocence compared

to the extreme close up's used to interview the offending soldiers.

30:30 part 2 counter argument

Glendale Walls was part of processing at the prison

that Diliwar was taken to. In the movie he spoke

out against the people in charge of interrogations.

The director also used the blue wardrobe to

create the same effect of innocence for the people

being interviewed.

The director used the zoom effect to emphasize the extreme case of torture during their interrorgation techniques by showing a close up of Dilawar when he was examined by a coroner.

Throughout the movie the author used pictures of

Diliwar, the victim, while he was connected to the life support so that he can evoke a feeling of sympathy from the audience.

The different ways that the interviewees

are displayed with use of light reflects their

situations

For the soldiers, who are portrayed in a

negative way for their participation in

torture, the background is dark, and lighting

is used sparingly

The experts, however, are in spaces

flooded with light, and often

incorporating much color.

Grew up in Australia and went to school at Monash University to get a bachelor's degree in arts. Won Oscar in 2007 for her work on "Taxi to the Dark Side".

Born in New York City in 1953

The movie was motivated Alex Gibney's father, who was a navy interrogator that was upset with the current interrogation techniques.

Diliwar

The movie focuses on an Afghan taxi driver

named Diliwar who was brutally tortured and

killed by U.S. soldiers in a U. S. airbase.

Taxi to the Dark was released in 2007

and won an Oscar for best documentary

in 2008.

  • The title of the movie was inspired by a famous quote of Dick Cheney, "we also have to work though, sort of the dark side" he later went on to say that the U.S. should work "in the shadows in the intelligence world." This quote from Dick Cheney revealed that the government is using these torture techniques for terrorist interrogations.

The movie examines the Usa's policy on torture and

interrogation of suspected terrorist. It specifically

examines the advanced interrogation techniques

of the CIA.

In the movie, Alex is trying to convince the public

and the government that torture is wrong and

imoral.
