ORIENTATION

IDENTIFICATION

EXPLOITATION

RESOLUTION

These 4 phases encompass the over all interaction between a nurse and client.

Exploitation phase is when the patient begins to take full advantage of the goods and services available.

The patient must have self interest, need, and understanding of these services to use them at their disposal.

Resolution phase is the final phase in nurse client relationship where patients dependance on the health care system is relinquished.

Positive therapeutic outcomes reinforce the patients ability to cope away from the health care system.

SURROGATE ROLE- When the patient associates the nurse with someone from a past relationship. ex. "You remind me of someone"

COUNSELING ROLE -Listening to the patients narrative of events leading to them seeking health care. Coming to know the patient or client.

TEACHING ROLE- A combination of all rolls. Establishing the patients readiness to learn: What the patient knows and/or has interest in learning.

LEADERSHIP ROLE- Where the patient looks to the nurse for direction of healing initiatives and/or definitions of health.
