Vasco Da Gama
Vasco Da Gama was born around 1460 and died in 1524.Around the end of the 15th century Da Gama was chosen to lead an exedition to India to outflank the Muslims and collect spices.They left with four ships,Da Gama sailing on one called the Sao Rafael.

When Vasco had rounded Cape Verde he did not go along the coast like many explorers in the past had done he went out in the middle of the ocean and then kept heading east.
Vasco and his flet then stoped at a place on the east coast of Africa called Mozambique and were assumed to be muslims.There for the Sultan provided them with pilots who led them north on there way to India.
Vasco and his crew stoped twice more before arriving to India.When they soon reached India they were greated and obtained the spices necessary.Although on there way back many crew members died of scurvy, in fact so many died that Vasco's own ship had to be burned down because they had a lack of crew.
