I do know some nationals from other countries and will try to persuade them to subscribe to the WMNow, however, can't promise much as majority of them prefer to avoid police information
My wife reads and speaks Cebuano and Tagalog (Filipino). If you would like to include these languages with alerts she could check these for accuracy, etc
Thank you, but I do not need a translation
I am English born and bred in England so why should I want messages in any other language. Why was English not included on your list of options
Given the pressure on resources would it not be a better approach with longer term benefits to encourage people to learn English rather than re-enforce and perpetuate an existing problem by offering translations?
Anyone living in England should be able to understand the English Language. The cost implications for translating all emails into different languages must be huge and in my opinion a complete and utter waste of funds.
Hi Panjabi translation is not clear. some of the translated word are used are very acedemic and general panjbi peaker woruld not underdtand the meaning. Is your translator qualified to DPSI level? Is ggogle used to do the translation?
The second and most recent message requesting the evaluation of this service was much more improved in terms of its level of accuracy of translation.
Please carry on with this service as it enhances the effectiveness of passing sensitive information and awareness to certain groups of the population who unfortunately can not communicate adequately in English
Very good service informs people whose English is second language helps keep everyone informed I commend this service Well come improvement
I would like to thank you for providing all the information I need to know....as far as the translation is concern ..the translation is poor...some words used have either typical meaning or not relevant....over all I understand what is said in Hindi Language.....but the children who learnt Hindi in this country will not be able to understand at all. I taught Hindi/Panjabi language 30 yrs up to A level standard.... The translation must be simple and in standard language....anyway... once again thanks
The translation is not the best with lots of grammatical mistakes which gives me Google-type translation feel.
But it's still understandable and I think people who don't speak much English can find it really useful.
Excellent accurate translation of a complex message.. The service should certainly prove very useful to any wm now users who have Greek as their first language.
If other languages are translated to the same high standard it will give anyone in the community who has difficulty with English access to wm now's useful information and advice.
I was responsible for editing Shell Brazil's organization and procedure manuals in both English and Portuguese and pride myself on having mastered Portuguese to the point where most Portuguese people are convinced I am Brazilian.
This translation is perfectly clear and faithful in the usage of European Portuguese with only three or four very minor errors that do not affect understanding.
As I understand this service is using an automated word for word translator and not an a live interpretion.
All documentation should be in the language of the this country at present if every foreign national in the West Midlands asked for translation in their native language it could deprive the West Midlands Police of funds otherwise used to support front line policing.
I do appreciate that the police takes the time and effort to communicate with people whose first language is not English.
Thank you very much.
I would like to recommend that smaller, less complicated sentences should be used as this could improve the level of accuracy of the translation.
I am very delighted to have a translation service hopefully it will prevail and thanks for your help please appreciate the opportunity we have from you
There is still room for improvement in the translation
A very good service well thought out.
Translations are of a good standards despite the occasional grammatical mistakes.
- Explain the extremely low cost to allay worries and preempt negativity
- Make the survey clear that if a member does not require a translation, they should do nothing.
75% say that providing the service makes them feel more valued
67% are now more willing to contact the police since receiving the service
65% agree that the service has increased their trust in the police
When creating messages, simple English grammar needs to be used when messages are likely to be translated
The translation service costs £800 per year +
a one off set up fee
(Unlimited translations and users)
It is a machine translation of English and while the message is usually understandable it is by no means normal Spanish. It is however useful and should be continued.
