The Faculty of Physics

Faculty of Chemistry is one of the oldest in the University of Kiev . Among the eight departments of Physics and Mathematics Department of the University of St. Vladimir in 1834 was the department of chemistry , mineralogy and geology. Chemical Department of the University , consists of the Department of Inorganic , Organic and Physical Chemistry was established in 1905. Currently, the Faculty of Chemistry has five departments, namely analytical, inorganic, organic, physical chemistry and macromolecular chemistry, which provides training in the following specialties : analytical chemistry , environmental chemistry, physical chemistry of interfacial phenomena , inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, chemistry of natural compounds, chemical control environment , physical chemistry and chemistry of macromolecular compounds.

Every year several international scientific conferences on different topics of physics are conducted at our Faculty, including the conferences for students, postgraduate students and young scientists.

Our graduating students regularly get offers for jobs and further education at the leading scientific-research institutions, universities, and enterprises, hi-tech firms in Ukraine and abroad.

Military Academy

The Military Academy is the only military training unit of higher educational institution in Ukraine, which provides training of experts for all military formations with specialization in International Information, Translation and Interpretation, Finance, Psychology, Political Science, Geoinformation Systems and Technologies, Advertising and Public Relations, Journalism and Law. Moreover, Graduate Military Courses are functioning at the Institute providing education in 10 scientific specialties.

The Geological Faculty of the University of Kyiv was founded in 1944. Among its graduates are many scientists and globally recognized geologists – dozens of academicians, Corresponding Members, Doctors of Science, Laureates of State Prizes and Shevchenko Honored scholars of Science and Technology, not to mention discoverers of large amounts of buried resources.

  In the years 1938-1944 (with a break) was rector of the Kiev State University.

The Institute of International Relations hosts numerous national and international conferences, symposia, seminars, round tables on a wide range of international Issues. Furthermore, meetings with high foreign students, ambassadors of foreign states to Ukraine are organised. Geography Faculty of the National Taras Shevchenko University in Ukraine is a leading educational and research center. The science of geography received considerable attention in Kyiv University since its establishment.

The scientific potential of the Faculty of Radiophysics has grown considerably and now it can be compared to that of an independent research institute. There are several scientific schools at the faculty now. These are the School of Physical Electronics, Physics of Semiconductor ,and Nonlinear Optics.

Head of the department — Yuriy Volodymyrovych Boyko. The department prepares specialists in two fields — solid-state electronics and automation of scientific researches. Main fields of work — tunnel electron microscopy, solar power engineering, logical design for computer network etc. Students of the department have the opportunity to attend Cisco and Microsoft regional academies.

Today the Faculty of Cybernetics is one of the largest faculties of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University and is a center for training specialists in educational levels "Bachelor", "Specialist" and "Master" in the field: "Applied Mathematics", "science", "System analysis "and" Software Engineering ".

Advances in computer science :

  • A method of encrypting information using theory of cyclic lattices ;
  • fundamental mathematical results obtained from the general theory of interaction of agents and environments;

The scientific activity of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics is widely known in Ukraine as well as abroad. Here the world famous scientific schools on algebra, differential equations, probability theory, mechanics are functioning. Practically each department of the faculty has its own seminar, where the results obtained by the scientists of Kyiv University, as well as many other educational and scientific institutions are reported. There are organized three specialized Scientific Councils at the faculty, two of which are assigned for the defense of doctoral theses.

Law Faculty of the University is one of the most prestigious

law schools in Ukraine.

Its alumni and lecturers have made significant contributions to the glory of the Alma Mater and the impact on science and education, political and cultural life.

Nowadays the Institute of philology provides courses in Czech, Croatian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Latin, Old Greek, Korean, Persian, Uzbek, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, New Greek, Dutch, Swedish, Ukrainian and Russian (as foreign languages) and many others.

The Faculty of Sociology

Since 1967 first division, and then the Faculty of Psychology has grown and expanded . In 1967 , the Department became the Department of General Psychology and Engineering Psychology ( it continues to lead O.M.Rayevskyy ). In 1971, the Department opened social and educational psychology led an extremely talented scientist and teacher L.Y.Marisovoyi . In 1973 begins to train students in medical psychology at the Department of Social and Educational Psychology , and in 1992 created the Department psychodiagnostic and medical psychology , headed by prof. Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine , a scientist of world renown professor. L.F.Burlachuk .

Faculty of Sociology was established in April 2007 to advance famous traditions of the previous and present generations of sociologists at National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv.

In April 2007 Faculty of Sociology and Psychology underwent restructuring, after which it emerged as two separate faculties. A. P. Gorbachyk, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor and a distinguished specialist in methodology of sociological research and methods of data analysis was elected dean of Faculty of Sociology.

The History Faculty began its work as the Historical and Philological Department of the Philosophical Faculty of St. Volodymyr University in 1834. At different periods of its existence the Faculty was several times renamed as Historical and Philological, Historical and Philosophical, Historical and Economic and, finally, the History Faculty.
