Prophetic Time Frame
Prophets generally cluster around times of great crisis in the history of Israel. These are the four main crises:

Definition
1. The Hebrew word translated prophet perhaps comes from an Akkadian word "nabu" meaning "to call"
2. Prophets were then (generally) men who "were called" and who "called out" a message from YHWH
3. Prophets were not mostly foretellers, but rather forthtellers
A first distinction
Prophets can be divided into two types
1. Pre-classical (non-literary)
2. Classical (literary)
