In this presentation I'm not teaching you about math exactly, more of what I think of Math in general, and a few misconceptions...

With all the things we do these days, we forget about the bare necessities.

Math, dreaded by many, loved by few...

Math is really nothing to be feared, we use it everyday, even doing simple things like throwing something away, or lifting something, or even when you sleep, the angle you lay at

So many kids hate it because it is tedious and sometimes is hard to understand, but its because they didn't learn it the fun way...

Math is fun when you understand it. To me, thats the reason that a lot of people hate math, they never got the help when they were younger so they could understand and master it.

Back in the old days... Math is what made certain famous people interested in the great discoveies of their day

Even back in the old days their were women who studied math... men aren't the only ones that can do derivitives you know...

We have gone so far in technology over the years now our calculators can be used as basic computers, no need for the desktop anymore...

Mathematicians aren't always nerds, sometimes we have senses of humor... sometimes...

We have got the algebra, the trig, the calculus, but really all they are for is determining the measure of lines, angles, and the volume of something if it were filling up with water...

Once you think you have mastered it, another really big concept comes along

I love math. It's a passion of mine, I'm not forcing it on anyone, I just love it and want to show it off.

Bauerlein might say that we aren't smart because we don't know much about history, or math, or speeling... whatever... But I believe we are smarter then a lot of generations, I mean look at his generation, all the baby boomers are doing is milking social security, and medicare, they aren't helping those generations below them economically by having three cars and two campers and a cabin on the lake besides the house and hunting cabin, and all this stuff they don't need.

What about that Bauerlein, huh, huh, what about that?

What about those people like me that are absolutely passionate about something and we just absorb information on it like sponges, does that mean we are stupid because we don't care about spelling or grammar, we don't care about knowing what president Grover Cleveland was. Who by the way was both the 22nd and 24th president and the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms, in 1885-89 and 1893-97... yeah...

Would it matter if we knew trivial things that only someone who frequented jeopardy knew, would it matter, because all that is doing is taking up memory on our internal hard drives, our brains may not think exactly as yours, but dude, we learn because we want to, we learn the stuff that will help us do what we want, we learn, if that makes us stupid, I give up...

With all the pressure to succeed we have on our shoulders, it's a wonder we don't just explode... Maybe if Bauerlein spent a day in our shoes, he might realize that is isn't just about stats, he is talking about real people, we aren't just numbers, we are real, living, breathing, human beings...

The End ;)

Math, a Passion, a Language, a Great Thing...

Disclaimer:

If learning is not suitable for your brain, I may open your mind to this presentation.

Even now we have calculator belt holsters, and these...

We have gone from writing everything out, to using a typewriter, to computers, but way before all that people did this to make their graphs ...

Math is just a series of numbers that, when grouped together using either a formula, equation, theorum, or conjecture, gives a set answer... thats probably why I like it so much. There's no ambiguity about it.
