  • When showing a movie, allow students to discuss and ask questions about the movie
  • During lecture allow students to ask questions and discuss your lecture in this open chat forum
  • Require students to answer questions from other students
  • Allows students to ask you to repeat lecture they might have missed with out stopping

Ahead

  • Works just like Prezi, but with more options for inserting text, pictures and video.
  • More difficult to use in my opinion, but it comes with more features, so that is expected.
  • The website is actually the software, so when you visit the website, you are seeing it in action.
  • No education Account and is still in Beta and Free while in Beta, so expect improvements.
  • Uses scenes like Slides in a Power Point, but allows for Zoom feature.

Prezi

  • Offers the ability to create a presentation on a 3-Dimensional Canvas
  • You can get a teacher account that offers several features that are not included on a regular account
  • Twist and Turn your presentation.
  • You can upload video, PDF, and Images to the presentation
  • You determine the path.
  • Great for looking at certain parts of an image

Wiki

Lecture with Comic Strips

  • Take Lecture and create cartoons and comics as a supplement or as main form of lecture
  • Assign students to finish lecture from your unit/lesson by creating comics and then have them share with class
  • Have students create comics from your lecture, making your lecture INTERACTIVE
  • Create "Mad Lib" comics and have students fill in the blanks of the Cartoon as you lecture
  • Create cartoons with JUST PICTURES and have students tell you the notes that belong....and vise versa
  • Have students compare your lecture with a Wiki
  • Have students compare a textbook with a Wiki
  • Put your Lecture Notes on a Wiki and give certain sections to students and have them add information to it, especially videos.
  • Create a Wiki for students to create lecture notes for your classes. Have classes compete for the creation of the best Wiki.

  • Take your Power Point Presentations and provide them to students. Have them create a Glog based on your slides and then have them present to the class. You will know that your main points were covered and then students added to it
  • Take those Power Point Slides and create your lecture in a Glog
  • Create a video/audio montage
  • Create a Glog of Resource Links to share with students in class.

Photo Peach

  • No education account feature.
  • Add pictures and text (within the photo). No Music or Video
  • Bonus Feature: Create a quiz out of your Digital Story.
  • Transitions and effects are not as advanced

Animoto

  • Visit the education page and create an account with your school email address. You will then be emailed a code that you can give to your students who can then join the site and get complete features
  • Add pictures, text (between photos), music, and even videos.
  • Site takes care of all the transitions and effects on the photos.
  • Also available as an iPhone App.

Lecture Using Digital Story Telling

  • Less text means easier note taking for students and more focus on you and presentation
  • Math teachers could take pictures of the steps in an equation and then play for students. Keeps from having to rewrite problems when you have similar preps.
  • Science teachers could take pictures in the stages of an experiment
  • Great for discussing people, places and events.
  • Great for showing sequence of events.
  • Create regular lecture with PhotoPeach. Create separate Quiz and test your students to see how much they remember from the lecture.
