With reference to Andrew Goodwins idea of generic forms and conventions of music videos:
The audience feedback I received over SurveyMonkey about the music video was critical yet positive and constructive. The feedback helped me find out how the band were portrayed and what could have been done to improve the music video plus much more.
Through out the design and construction of the CD digipak and the album advert, I purposely wanted to make sure that there was no real relation between those and the music video.
I did this, as I have noticed that most of the time album artwork on actual products don't tend to follow the same theme that had been chosen for a certain music video. This is more common though, for when an artist has a single released as a hard copy and the album artwork matches the music video.
Even though I didn't match the album and advert artwork to the theme of the music video, I believe that this doesn't have much, if any, impact on the effectiveness of either the album, advert or music video.
Throughout the AS and A2 years of Media Studies, I have acquired and developed new skills in new media technologies. Here are areas of new media technologies of which I have advanced in.
I have been using Adobe Photoshop for nearly two years now, and my skills with Photoshop have expanded and increased. I think this is evident when my AS coursework is compared with my A2 coursework.
PSBrushes is a website built on a wide variety of Adobe Photoshop brushes, uploaded by the community. I used these brushes to add variation and an interesting, stylish look to my coursework.
I also used Dafont; a website packed with a variation of Adobe Photoshop fonts. These fonts are all uploaded by the community aswell, just like PSBrushes.
Adobe Premiere was one of the new media technologies that I was completely new to. It took a while to get used to using the program to edit the music video but I now have the basic skills to, if neccessary, to use Premiere again.
I have used SurveyMonkey previously to gain data on my coursework. It is a useful and easy-to-use method of getting feedback for my work.
I used YouTube as a way of researching artists, their music videos and the directors behind them. Also, YouTube allowed my music video to be shared publically making it available for anyone to see, where hopefully, the audience would leave any critical or general feedback about the music video too.
I used Facebook as a way of communicating with my friends and peers to try and get any useful feedback towards my media product as a whole by sharing my SurveyMonkey links and also the links to my CD digipak, advert and music video. This method worked rather well allowing me to put the feedback into practice and improve my coursework.
Finally, I learnt to use Prezi. Prezi has helped me put together a simple yet good looking presentation, made easy by the tutorials offered and the easy-to-use user interface.
The overall audience feedback I collected through SurveyMonkey for the music video product was positive yet constructive and helped me gain a better understanding of how other people actually portrayed the video and the band. I also gained an understanding of what could have been done to improve the music video.
