Impact on the USA

This reform impacted the USA because Horace Mann built a society where people should go to school together and gave women the opportunity to get an education.

And Prudence Crandall

The Legacy

The next issue Horace Mann had was that the African Americans weren't able to attend schools. There was a women named " Prudence Crandall " who accepted a black women into a white school and she got put in jail. Once Horace Mann saw this he wanted to change the negativity between the blacks and whites. In 1853 Mann opened up a new college called "Antioch College in Ohio" this college was for both genders and both races which made them work together all he wanted was a positive society and he sent that message to the children at the school

This helped to build a stronger community with the people and taught people how to work together! Now black and whites are very civil and work together.

2 Good Things about the reform

And what the reform did well on

I think that the reform from Horace Mann was excellent. He had such a kind heart and accepted everybody no matter was race or color skin. The reform was really good when he created it on how people should go to school for free. Another thing that was amazingly successful was that Mann created an impacting message to his students that you can change the views of the society, and I think that is really powerful

2 Improvements that should have happened

The reform that Horace Mann created were really good but their could have been some tweaking. They needed more people who agreed with Horace, and Horace should have had a group of people that felt for this subject as much as him. He just needed a team to support the cause. He needed more educators to make the message that Blacks and white should go to school together., and to show people how to work as a community!

The Education Reform 1800's

What did the reform do?

The education reform was an update on the education law and improvements people made so others can be in school. The law before the reform was created stated that only white boys could go to school. Which put a face on the women as the "housewife". The first reform was produced by Horace Mann a guy who wanted children to go to school for free, finally the made it a law and he was named "Father of Education".
