Transcript: Grinch Eduardo Montalvo 9b #9 Grinch, who lives north of the city. To avoid having to go through this annual disorder, decides to steal all the Christmas decorations. He dresses as Santa Claus, and takes all the Christmas trees, decorations and gifts and takes them to the top of a cliff. He is waiting to hear the cries of the boys from the city, but just listen to the festivities. Grinch Grinch Grinch Grinch and kids learn Christmas is not about material processions, but the spirit of the Holiday season, the birth of Christ. No matter what one has, it is easy to celebrate His birth. The truth causes love to grow in the Grinch’s heart. He returns everything to Who-ville and accepts their invitation to stay for dinner. Dr. Seuss wants children to know the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas is not the number of gifts under the Christmas tree. The Grinch hates Christmas and plans to steal it! Meanwhile, all the inhabitants of Whoville prepare their homes for the most special time of year. Cindy Lou, a girl who does not understand why others are happy both as Christmas approaches. One thing is certain: anything can happen at this time of year ... Grinch, who lives north of the city. Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge He stole the Whos presents and they weren't sad because christmas wasn't about presents its about family and friends. He went back and said he stole the gifts and he was sorry. For christmas dinner he cut the turkey. He was a bitter man he went into his past and saw how mean and nasty he was. So I was searching for the perfect card for today, but not even Hallmark got close to what I think and feel about YOU..! 1 one month Four weeks Twenty-four days Five hundred seventy-six hours Thirty-four thousand five hundred and sixty minutes Two million seventy-three thousand six hundred seconds Together. Yes.. One Month together! So this may seem like another boy meets girl kind of story to anyone, but to me, it’s so much more than that ..it’s something more like a dream meets reality kind of thing! =) Since 19 is our official number, here are 19 things I must confess..! 1 I love it when you ask me for a “real kiss”, and give me 1000 reasons of why I should give you not just one but one million, truth is.. I want to hear those 1000 reasons a million times! =) 2 I love it when you semi-take me down and then gently kiss me, you take my breath away every time. 3 I love the fact that you always want me to learn about everything, and the fact that you are patient enough to explain the world to me (Yes, including American Football’s endless rules). 4 I laugh so hard when you brag about what an amazing boyfriend you are (That’s true though), and I love cuando le digo: “Si estoy segura”, and you go like: “Como su future apellido?” =) 5 I love it when you kiss my forehead. 6 Kills me when you put me your ear para que le de besitos! =$ Hahahaha. CONSENTIDO! 7 I love it when you call me PRINCESS! And treat me like one also. 8 Me mata de la risa when you go like “nooo no soy consentido”, and then tell me “Vaya amor sientese bien so I can sit in your lap… PERO SOBEME TAMBIEN NO SE DUERMA!” Hahahahaha.. y NO es consentido verdad! (Eyes rolling face here). 9 I love it when you call me a grandma and then make fun of me of it, truth is I am a grandma, but YOUR grandma! 10 Me encanta que once you say a bad word y sabe que viene “the hand” trata de change lo que dijo before I notice hahaha! (Think twice before you say em). 11 Me fascina que me lleve a mass on Sundays! =) And I actually loved the fact that the first time we ever holded hands was during mass =$ I love it how you hold my hand in the car every time, and then out of the blue kiss my hand! 12 Me encanta when you get the door for me! =) Y que todas las chavas se mueran de la envidia de lo lindo que es mi novio! 13 I love how you make your favorites my favorites and vice-versa (Si soy Realma btw, and I know Gary is ur favorite dog!). And the way you do things the way I like them (Hasta park como guardaespaldas). 14 Me encanta que you take care of me and treat me like the little sister I was to you on our first date. 15 I love it when you dedicate me the sweetest songs, and occasionally sing them to me! 16 Me fascina when you whisper sweet things to my ear, and I melt when you whisper “I love you” I love you. PAUSA! 17 I adore the fact that we want to spend every second together, and yet do so many different things (All because of your creativity, cause EX Grinch here is still not good at planning dates!). 18 Me encantan los mas simple details que tiene conmigo, like when you found out my favorite chocolate mas Pb&J M&M’s, or when out of the blue you gave me a flower en Valle, its random things that let me know I’m always on your mind! 19 I love the fact that in no time, you are a part of me, and make me feel so loved and alive. I have no clue of how you know me so well in such a short amount of time, because you do all the things I’ve always wished for. So when you brag about what a perfect boyfriend you are, I laugh to myself and think: “He is sooo RIGHT!” So now im starting to HATE 19, porque esas son solo SOME things que me encantan! =P I remember when not so long ago me decia que why wast I all “hugs and kisses” (hahahaha) with you, and truth is I WAS scared to fall in love, but now I’m in love with you, I’m not scared anymore, “With you beside me I no longer fear” – You member right? So today, I just wanted to say THANK YOU! For EVERYTHING! For always making me feel amazing, for being everything I expected and more, for taking care of me, and treating me like a real Princess! You truly are my Guardian Angel, and I have this funny feeling in my tummy that tells me WE will always be! =) So you better keep that pinky promise we did onece Mister! Psychology Fairytales The Grinch Dr. Seuss In the classic Dr. Seuss story of The Grinch, a reclusive and bitter Grinch attemps to spoil Christmas for the merry Whos of Whoville . Fortunately, for our green character, an endearing young Who , named Cindy Lou , melts the Grinch's heart with holiday cheer and compassion. The Grinch The Grinch The Grinch Post Traumatic Stress Disorder PTSD? A mental health condition that can occur after a traumatic event that manifests itself through extreme anxiety, fear, anger, and often uncontrollable "flashbacks" of the traumatic event. What's PTSD? How does the Grinch have PTSD? Childhood Trauma The Grinch's main traumatic event occured when he was but a child. It started at school, where the Grinch was bullied not only because of his odd green, furry body, but specifically his "beard". He was made fun of and made to believe he was ugly, weird, and unacceptable to society. Scene from The Grinch TREATMENT!! Anti-depressants Psychotherapy Stress Inoculation Training (SIT) A cognitive-behavioral therapy that teaches skills and techniques to manage stress and reduce anxiety. Present-Centered Therapy (PCT) Focuses on current life problems that are related to PTSD. Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) Focuses on the impact of trauma on interpersonal relationships. TREATMENT!!! THE MAYOR Augustus Maywho The Mayor Narcissistic Personality Disorder The belief of grandeur, a lack of empathy for other people, and a need for admiration. Often seek excessive admiration and attention in order to know that others think highly of them. Narcissistic Personality Disorder... Narcisi- what??! So the Mayor is Narci- whatever? 1. He lacks empathy for others. Never was the mayor able to understand or imagine what the Grinch felt and was going through. 2. "Needs" admiration. The mayor constantly tries to make himself the victim of the Grinch when in reality the Grinch was the victim at his villainous hands. This proves the Mayor's attempts to have others admire him through his "bravery". 3. Belief that he's better than everyone else. The mayor feels a sense of superiority and acts out his delusions of grandeur through his actions and speech to his fellow Whos. YES! Three Reasons the Mayor has Narcissistic Personality Disorder: TREATMENT!! :) Psychotherapy (talk therapy) Medications- some anti-anxiety drugs can help. TREATMENT Martha May Martha May Dependent Personality Disorder Characterized by needy, passive, and clinging behavior, and a fear of separation. They also often have the inability to make decisions, even everyday decisions like what to wear, without the advice and reassurance of others. Dependent Personality Disorder What's DPD? Why Martha May? While it seems Martha May's only problems are her constant flirtatiousness and perfectionism, these problems are actually just the surface of a much deeper disorder. Martha cannot be alone- she is dependent on others. This is why she never pursued the Grinch when he left for the mountain- she couldn't stand the risk of ever being alone. Instead, she depends on the mayor. She has trouble making decisions, such as choosing between social pressures and the feelings in her heart. Martha May can't stand to be alone Pychotherapy- ***During therapy, a hightened awareness of relationship with therapist is to be observed in order to avoid dependence upon therapist. *** TREATMENT YAY for TREATMENT! She strives to help the Grinch reach self-actualization, while being equally compassionate and kind to every who far and wide.
