Transcript of AC Circuit Applications

Graphically, the potential across the resistor and capacitor from a potential as a function of frequency looks like this
AC Circuit Applications
High pass and Low pass Filters
In an RC circuit, the capacitive reactance is dependant upon the frequency.
At low frequencies, the reactance is high, and the current and potential in the circuit is primarily capacitive
At high frequencies, the reactance is low, and the circuit is primarily resistive.
The cross over frequency is

Phasor diagrams
Finding the relation between voltage and potential is the point of phasor diagrams. Listed here for R, C, and L Circuits.

Resonance
LC cirucits opperate at a resonant frequency when the two reactances are equal. This resonance is the same as a DC circuit.

Bigger R
A series LRC circuit has resistance 25 Ohms, Capacitance 550 nF, and Inductance .15 mH powered by an AC generator with a peak voltage of 12 V at are large range of frequencies.
What is the cross over frequency for a low to a high pass filter? (assume the inductor is taken out of the circuit)
What is the resonant frequency?
What is the phase angle and peak current at the frequency is 50 KHz?
Peak current is
