IVF Summarizing Strategy
Transcript of IVF Summarizing Strategy
What is summarizing anyway?
Ever been asked....
"What'd you do at school today?" - nosy (but really thoughtful) parent
"What's your book about?" - your annoying Comm Arts teacher
"What's that movie about?" - a curious friend
When do you need to summarize?
The IVF strategy is super easy and very useful!
Identify the item you are summarizing (title of the book, article, song, movie etc.)
What the author/artist/director is doing, such as...
Finish with the 3 main ideas from the item that you are summarizing!
In the article, the author Jennifer Kenny (identify), describes (verb)the events of September 11th and how the lives lost are remembered today (finish).
In the movie, Frozen, the story shows two sisters journey to discover they will always have each other.
Let's practice! Here's how you set it up!

While reading a book or articles, it's important to be able to take notes and summarize the main ideas.
It is important for you to keep neat and organized c-notes in your Interactive Student Notebook.
These will be a great study tool for you when it is time for assessments.
Remember to study...
