Beowulf Passage 1 Passsage one talked about shiled ,his burial, hrothgar and mead-hall Herot. lines 1 through 98 Passage 2 Passage 3 Passage 4 Throughout the epic poem the poet
creates an image of Beowulf being a
savior. Sent here by the gods to defend
the people from Grendel.

Grendel "I never heard before of a ship so well furbished with battle tackle, Bladed weapons and coats of mail. The massed treasure was loaded on top of him: it would travel on out into the oceans sway" This one example of how this poem uses ver descriptive language and literature. It tells me whats on the ship and that its a nice one. Passage two , lines 710 through 825. Went into depth on the was with Grendel and how the warriors prepared for it. "the this rage boiled over, he ripped open the mouth of the building, ,addening for blood, pacing the length of the patterened floor with his loathsome tread, while a baleful light, flame more then light, flared from his eyes" This is when Grendel attacked the warriors when they were sleeping and the big war happened. I choose this as an example because it describes Gredals ever move and action. To how he feels, facial expression with the thrist of blood and the flame in his eyes with rage" Passage three, lines 2241 through 2270. Described a sad monlooluge about a man being the only one left after a battle. how there was no more honorble men because they all died of war. "Now, earth, hold what earls once held and heroes can no more; it was mined from you first by honorable men. My own people who have been ruined in war; one by one they went down to death, looked their last on sweet life in the hall" This is telling you that theres brave warriors, these honorable me. Lost their lives all for war. Now wether this is a good or bad thing? that is up to uou to descide. Wether its worth dying for something you believe in? or staying alive? Passage four, lines 3137 through 3182. Went into detail about Beowulf's furneral and how the whole town came to watch him float away to see with flames of fire. "The geat people built a pyre for Beowulf, stacked and decked it until it stood four-square, hung with helmets, heavy war shields and shining amount, just as he ordered" The people loosing their hero was a big deal. It was thought that he was sent here by the gods to protect them and destroy Grednel. As they watch'd there hope, knight and belief in a peacful world were drifting away to sea. Athough he did destroy Gredel, they did fear other monsters. Vocabulary hilde rinca=under the god cyninga=kings gesipas=warrior haefdon=sword
