D&C 101:36

To be accountable, we take 100% ownership of our responsibilities, including the results.
Mormon 9:27 - Fear God
When the results are less than favorable, we begin to blame others or circumstances.

Cain blamed God
Pilate blamed the people
We blame circumstances on others
We blame government, economy, banks, boss, professors, children, children's circles, neighbor, neighborhood, teammates, traffic, weather, Bishop, visiting teaching companion, colleague, internet connection, computer...
And there are plenty of people around us
who agree with us...thus, lawsuits abound

1 Nephi 3:5-6, 30-31
1 Nephi 4:4
1 Nephi 17:18
1 Nephi 17:22
3 Nephi 27:3-5
Expression + Action

Justification is based on the belief that “I know best.”
Criminals justify that their needs, wants, ideas, time, etc. are more important than the law.
Based on a disrespect for authority.
Respect creates obedience and sense of responsibility.
Obedience to self, others and God
Justifying vs Seeking Understanding
Where do we go?
Faith is related to "quick to obey"

"Another fallacy is to believe that the choice to accept or not accept the counsel of prophets is no more than deciding whether to accept good advice and gain its benefits or to stay where we are. But the choice not to take prophetic counsel changes the very ground upon which we stand. It becomes more dangerous. The failure to take prophetic counsel lessens our power to take inspired counsel in the future. The best time to have decided to help Noah build the ark was the first time he asked. Each time he asked after that, each failure to respond would have lessened sensitivity to the Spirit. And so each time his request would have seemed more foolish, until the rain came. And then it was too late."
