Just tryna find my way back home (back home)
The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone
And ohhhh (eyyy)
I've been travellin' on this road too long (too long)
Just tryna find my way back home (back home)
The old me is dead and gone, dead
and gone, dead and gone My connection between this song and Brothers in Arms is that T.I and Martin Luna both lost people c lose to them. Philant Johnson was one of T.I.'s old friends. Philant recently passed away from being shot to death. Much like Martin Luna's brother Huero Luna. The lyrics that come next sort of described Martin's transformation into becoming a better person. He feels like a new person now that his brother passed away. So in a sense the old him is dead and gone... Characters Martin Luna is the main character Eric "Huero" Luna is Martin's 8 year
old brother who was shot and killed Imelda Luna is the mother of Martin and Huero Mr. Mitchell is a sympathetic teacher who tries to
get through to Martin and genuinely cares about his students. Steve Morris is the school jock and bully Clarence (Steve's follower) Eric Suarez is a student at Bluford
who gets bullied by Steve Morris Vicky is a concerned student at Bluford High School and Martin's crush Teresa is Vicky's best friend
who is very suspicious of
Martin Frankie Pacheco is the gangbanger that the bullet that hit Huero was meant for. Chago
These three are the rest of Martin and Frankie's gang Officer Nelson Ramirez: local officer to
Martin's old neighborhood and Mrs. Luna's friend. Cooper, Brisana,
Darcy, Tarah, Roylin
are other Bluford students Summary Struggling with the loss of his eight year old brother, Huero, Martin is moved away from his gang and his high school, Zamora High. After Huero was shot to death, Martin's mother decides that this neighborhood isn't safe. She refuses to lose another son. Martin feels out of place at his new school named Bluford High School. During this novel Martin basically chooses between right and wrong. He comes across new friends, new enemies, all while losing some people along the road. A curious but wise teenage girl named Vicky and a caring, selfless teacher named Mr. Mitchell both try to get through to Martin. Back home, they found out who shot that gun that hit Huero. But the truth isword gets out that the bullet that hit Huero was meant for local gangbanger, Frankie Pacheco. Frankie tries to brush it off Martin's shoulder knowing that both Martin and Frankie are well aware that Frankie had done something very wrong and now he has place guns in Martin and the rest of the gang's hands so they could do his dirty work. What bothers me most is that Frankie doesn't own up to the fact that the bullet was meant for him. In the end, Martin ends up doing the right thing. He says no to shooting a guy that accidently shot his brother. He made his mother and Huero very proud. This is
Brothers in Arms. This is the sequel to
Brothers in Arms named The Fallen Ms. Spencer is the principal
of Bluford High School Suggestions I think that a lot of adolescents including adolescents with a lot of drama in their lives should read this book. Its a great source of entertainment and there might be a lot of people who could connect to this book. It teaches how someone can rise up from everyone s and their own expectations to do good in the world. It also teaches that you can grow as a person no matter what kind of a set back may hit you Introduction In this book, you will learn valuable lessons. From learning the difficulty of choosing between right and wrong and learning what to do with a loss in your family The End "Rest in peace, Huero. I'll make you proud."
