There is no specific time for the use of instructional materials in the teaching learning situation much will depend on the following:

Subject matter

Students and learning situation


There are however, many uses for materials in making meaning clear. For example they can be used for;

Introducing of a unit

Developing a unit

Interpreting a unit

Follow for summarizing a unit

Correlating bits of information

Identifying self with a situation

Transferring to a real life situations

Motivating and arousing interest

The methods to be use in instruction
The instructional materials to be use including consideration of unique strengths and weakness
The facilities and environment
The supporting equipment
