John Green The Fault In Our Stars Setting Opening Lines Summary This book is based in the 20th century. The book doesn't give us a exact date but you get a idea of it. It is set in Indianapolis ( Capital of Indiana). Also it is based in Amsterdam for when the characters travel. The book doesn't tell us exactly which place but from the clues you can figure it out. Antagonist - Cancer Hazel Grace has cancer and she is fighting it as she always thinks what will happen to her family when she dies because of cancer? Also the boy Hazel Grace met he also has cancer and now at least she has company and she won't be the only one who had the same problem and was a friend. "Late in the winter of my seventeenth year, my mother decided I was depressed, presumably because I rarely left the house, spent quite a lot of time in bed, read the same book over and over, ate infrequently, and devoted quite a bit of my abundant free time to thinking about death." Hazel Grace is fighting from cancer that she knew she had from age 13. She is depressed and goes to a support group on the saying of her mom. There she meets Augustas Waters who also has cancer and they get really close. They have a book that they really like "The Imperial Affection" that was written by Peter Van Housten and then they travel to Amsterdam as he stays there to ask him the ending of the book as they liked the book so much and ending was a type of mystery they went to ask him. When they were in Amsterdam he denied to meet them and they just roam around Amsterdam and got shocking news from Augustas Waters. By: By : Ritvik Sethi Amsterdam^ Indianapolis^ Protagonist : Hazel Grace Hazel Grace is a a girl who got to know at the age of 13 that she has thyroid cancer and she is depressed because of that and goes to support group meetings. She is a nice person who finds a boy-friend at a support group meeting and they get close. Opinion Personally there were some parts in the book that I liked and there were some I didn't like. This was a little slow pace book with a lot of details. My favorite part was when they traveled to Amsterdam as it was fun to read it at them type as they described Amsterdam and told us how they are having fun.
