The LWCBID makes continuous tangible and intangible contributions to the interests of property and business owners on the West Colfax corridor. The LWCBID is connected to stakeholders at all levels – public and private, new and well-established. The LWCBID serves as a conduit for information to the benefit of all, and is a driver of positive change. My business is better because of the LWCBID, and I have directly received business opportunities because of the network created by the BID.

The LWCBID has had a successful five years in promoting and supporting new businesses, property development and improvement and the 40 West Arts District which has resulted in positive changes for W. Colfax as well as an increase in property values. The businesses that rent the property I own on W. Colfax are excited to be doing business on W. Colfax and have long term plans to remain in their locations. The LWCBID working with the City of Lakewood will continue to bring excitement and vibrancy back to W. Colfax.

As a long time business women on West Colfax, I have seen many changes. In the 60's and 70's, there was a community that enjoyed prosperity and personal friendships. When I-70 and 6th Ave. rerouted the Main Street traffic, the street began to decline. In 2000, we hit bottom and those who were still there, began to look for ways to improve. The 2004 vision plan and WCCA had great ideas, but no way to fund them. The commitment of the BID has provided that funding. Colfax was known for its street walkers and Old Main Street rot. Now,with just 5 years of BID activity, we are a proud street full of art and community. Back to our Street of Dreams history.

The LWCBID binds my company to many other diverse businesses, synergizing a larger and unified economic development mission. LWCBID is deeply connected to the businesses and neighborhoods along West Colfax, providing finely grained and highly focused programming that is directly relevant to corridor advocacy. I believe that LWCBID works symbiotically with the city to provide valuable “boots on the ground” perspective and action, that delivers high return on public investment.
