Transcript of Phototropism

What is phototropism? Phototropism is when a plant grows towards light, this is controlled by a hormone belonging to a group called Auxins. This stimulates the plant cells to elongate. It is produced by the tips of growing shoots but is destroyed when it is exposed to light. This means that the cells that are in the shade will survive but in the light they will die. Therefore cells in the shade will elongate more rapidly. By Callum Williams Why is phototropism important?
