(NAFTA) The North American Free Trade Agreement History of NAFTA The origin of NAFTA was because of Canada and United States Free Trade Agreement (FTA)
FTA was signed on October 4, 1988
It was an agreement signed by United States and Canada
The main purpose of signing this agreement was to eliminate barriers to trade in goods and services between Canada and the United States Free Trade Agreement (FTA) How FTA became NAFTA On January 1, 1994, NAFTA was signed by the governments of Canada, United States, and Mexico The goal of NAFTA was to eliminate barriers of trade and investment between US, Canada and Mexico. Canada gained the most from NAFTA with Canada's GDP rate at 3.6%,growing faster than the United States at 3.3% and Mexico at 2.7% USA Mexico Why is NAFTA a Defining Moment in Canadian History? Canadian employment levels have also shown steady gains in recent years, with overall employment rising from 14.9 million to 15.7 million in the early 2000 In the year 2008 alone, Canada exports to the United States and Mexico was at CAN381.3 Billion Dollars and imports from NAFTA was at CAN245.1 Billion Dollars Questions: 1.
