Piggy and Ralph decided to go join the rest of the boys at the feast.
They laugh and eat with the group.
Jack invites the rest of Ralph’s tribe to join his.
Ralph argues and asks questions, but Jack began to tell the boys to dance and chant.
The meaning of the quote
The boys got swept up in a frenzy, including Ralph and Piggy.
The boys reenact the killing of the pig, while chanting “ Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!”
Simon appears, but the boys do not see him as Simon. They see him as the beast, and violently kill him.
The author described the death of Simon with brutal, horrifying details.
The author wrote " There were no words, and no movements but the tearing of teeth and claws.. They surged after the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore.". ( P.153).
The boys were in a state of superficial excitement, oozing evil terror and desires.
