Transcript of The Pearl music project

Song of the Pearl The song I chose to represent the Song of the Pearl is "Price Tag" by Jessie J. This song talks about how life isn't all about money. In the book Kino and Juana learn that things with lots of value, like the pearl they found, aren't always good. Song of the Family The song I chose to represent the Song of the Family is "Your My Home" by Billy Joel. This song talks about how no matter how poor he is, and even though he might not have an actual home, he is fine, because his family is there. This is how it is for Kino and his family- his wife Juana and baby. The Pearl Music Project This is a project for my Language Arts class. We recently finished reading the book The Pearl, by John Steinbeck. In the book the main character Kino hears songs for different things that happen in his life. These include the Song of the Family, the Song of the Pearl, and the Song of the Enemy. For our project we had to find actual songs to represent these songs. We also had to come up with three more songs to go in the book. I came up with the Song of Coyotito, the Song of the Doctor, and the Song of Kino's Anger. Lastly, we had to come up with four songs to represent events or people or something important in our life. I did the Song of my Parents, the Song of my Hopes, the Song of my Faith, and the Song of my Strength. Total, that's ten songs and for our assignment we had to present them. This is my presentation for The Pearl Music Project. Song of the Enemy The song I chose to represent the Song of the Enemy is "Beethoven's 5th Symphony" by Ludwig Van Beethoven. This is a classical piece, and the music is perfect. It's sinister and spooky and really makes you think of something evil. Song of Coyotito The song I chose to represent Song of Coyotito (Kino's son) is "Baby" by Justin Bieber- the chorus only. This song says that he thought his baby would always be his. That's what Kino thought too, but his baby, Coyotito, died at the end of the book. Song of Kino's Anger The song I chose to represent the Song of Kino's anger is "Dark Side" by Kelly Clarkson. This song says that everybody has a dark side, a bad part of them that they try to hide away. Kino, in the book has serious anger issues, and that's his dark side. By Claire Black The Pearl Music Project Song of My Parents The song I chose to represent the Song of My Parents is "Wind Beneath my Wings" sung by, in this version Bette Midler. This song talks about someone who gives you support and helps you to fly. This is what my parents do for me. Song of My Hopes The song I chose to represent the Song of My Hopes is "We Can" by Bridgit Mendler. This song talks about how any person can change the world with help from someone else. Someday I'd like to change the world in this way. Song of My Faith The song I chose to represent the Song of My Faith is "Stronger" by Mandisa. This song talks about how God will always be there to make you stronger, no matter what. God really is my strength in life, He is right there beside me all the time. Song of My Happiness The song I chose to represent the Song of my Happiness is "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson. This song talks about how you should be who you are and do what you need to do in life. It's one of my favorite songs. Song of the Doctor The song I chose to represent Song of the Doctor is "Mean" by Taylor Swift. This song talks about someone who is a pathetic greedy mean liar. This describes the doctor in The Pearl perfectly.
