•First person to become an Honorary Citizen of the United States
•In 1945 was nominated for Nobel Prize in Peace
•Received the Nobel Prize in 1953 in literature for his many published works including “The Second World War”
•2002 poll of the “100 Greatest Britons” on BBC he was considered “The Greatest of Them All” based on around a million votes
•Was proclaimed as one of the most influential leaders in history by Time Son of British Lord Randolph Churchill and American Jennie Jerome
Winston was Six years older than his brother Jack Adored his mother but spent little time with her
Father was disappointed in him and also had little time for him Fearful but amazed by his father As a Child he:
was high spirited, but had a stubborn streak
had a unhappy childhood, was chubby, and did poorly in School
