James Farmer was born on January 12 , 1920 in Marshall Texas
Died
He died on July 9, 1999 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Significant Facts
1.His father was the first African American to earn a doctorate in his state.

2.James was an excellent student and was skipping grades in school.

3.James was a star College Debater. During his Adolescence he was depicted in The Denzel Washington Film, The Great Debaters.
Occupation
James was a Civil Rights Activist who did not like his race being discriminated.


James Farmer was also a Journalist.
Significant Facts
1.James received The Presidential Medal of Freedom from Bill Clinton.

2.He founded the Congress of Racial Equality(CORE).
