And are slightly bigger than their Asian cousins They are mammals They give birth to live young And feed them milk Did you know?... A baby elephant's first feed is the most important because it kick starts their immune system. Also they are warm blooded Elephants are categorized as threatened. Even though there are plenty of national parks that elephants live in. For example the Amboseli national park... ...is home to about 900 elephants The main reason elephants threatened is because they are hunted For their ivory tusks Even though it is illegal About 36,000 are killed each year
