Theory for "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.1 & Pt.2"
I Need U
The title song of "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.1" is "I Need U." The lyrics talk about a broken hearted man who is done with his girlfriend that seems to be playing with him.

Along with the release of the album, the "I Need U" music video was released on April 29, 2015.

But on May 10, 2015, the original version of the music video was released with the 19+ rating.
The Most Beautiful Moment in Life on stage: prologue
On October 1, 2015, following the constant buzz and confusion of the "I Need U" music video, BTS and Big Hit released "The Most Beautiful Momen in Life on stage: prologue."

Prologue meaning a short introduction, was deemed a prologue for their "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 2" album. The story picks up right after the ending of "I Need U."

Run
The title song of "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 2" is "Run." The song is about a man who can't get enough of his love, so he keeps running to get to her.

The story seems to pick back up from the end of the prologue, but it is not as blatantly similar.
Analyzing the Story
So, what came first? The chicken or the egg?

Similarly, many BTS fans are asking a variant of this question:
What came first? "I Need U" or "Run?"

Well, for now, let's start from the beginning.

I Need U: Setting
Room/Mental Hospital (?)
Motel Room
Bathroom
Outside Apartment Complex
Gas Station/Workplace
Another Bathroom/Bathtub
Wandering the Streets
I Need U: Story
Jungkook's Story
Suga's Story
J-Jope's Story
Jimin's Story
RapMon's Story
V's Story
Jin's Story
Jungkook has run away from home and while he's wandering the street, he bumps into some people and gets into some trouble. During the fight, I think Jungkook, who is hit in the head multiple times, gets a concussion, which is the reason he just randomly walks out onto the street and gets hit by a car, killing him.
Suga is seen in a motel room, maybe waiting for someone. He's playing with the lighter and we get the idea that something bad is going to happen. Bingo. He goes out, gets a ton of fuel/flamable liquids, and sets the room (and himself) on fire.
For now, the story is unclear. The motives behind each character are not set in stone, and we can only take a guess. For now, at least...
J-Hope is suffering from narcolepsy, as stated in the MV making film. We're not sure what's happening, but it's obvious from the amount of pills in his hand that he's overdosing on his medicine, causing him to lterally "drop dead" in the last frame.
Jimin is seen burning a peice of paper or note. We're not able to tell what the note says or what it is. He's seen filling the bathtub with water and evetually drowning himself. Fun.
RapMon works at the gas station. He's treated like crap from his customers and they throw the money out of the window. He's annoyed and stuff, so he drops his lillipop, which in the end turns out to be a cigarette and seeminly blows the gas station up.
V is probably avoiding his home as well. But when he decides to return, he sees the (1) father figure or (2) boyfriend of his ex/sister abusing his ex/sister and loses it. He kills the man with a broken soju bottle.
Jin doesn't really have a story. He's just seen in his room/mental ward. He seems to be sleeping/dreaming in the second frame. He cries a little...
I Need U: Things we don't notice
The first time through the MV, no one notices the lily petals, really. But if you look closely, there are six lily petals, seemingly representing six of the members?
This scene doesn't seem all that important, right? Just two friends who are laying on some gravel...typical, right? Well, it seems that everyone is paired together in the MV. Everyone except Jin.
The first pair we notice is V and RapMon. The second pair is here: Jungkook and Suga.
Following V and RapMon and Jungkook and Suga, we have J-Hope and Jimin, which is a little hard to notice, even the second and third time around.
Now, this is just something that gets to me. This frame is screen shotted from near the end of the MV. See how we only have Jungkook walking the pier at first...
...and then everyone else runs in after him. This symbolizes that Jungkook is the first to die of the group.
Then, last-but-not-least, we have the MV hinting at the two members who are still alive by the end: V...
...and Jin. They are the only members who get individual cuts near the end of the MV.
Moving on...
What a fun, disastrous music video!

Let's move on to something that might actually make some sense.
Prologue
The Prologue starts where "I Need U" ends. Taehyung is seen sitting against a wall, probably in the same neighborhood he was in during "I Need U."
He's still covered in blood from killing his (1) father figure or (2) his ex/sister's boyfriend.
He washes the blood off of his hands with that expensive ass Evian water.
And then he's seen "calling" someone. He's either calling (a) Jin, since he's the only one alive, or (b) he's trying to call a dead RapMon because he's closest with him.
It's hard to know, because during the call he says, "Hyung, I want to see you now."
Taehyung is seen coming from a very bright place while...
...everyone else is seen running from the shaded woods.
This isn't relaly important. It's just where Taehyung is.
This is proof that the man Taehyung killed is his father. Probably.
The five come out of the woods and seem to be enjoying the newfound sun.
The five "dead" members come out of thew woods.
Namjoon is the one to wake Taehyung up, which leads me to think that RM is the one Taehyung "called."
And RM is the one to pull Taehyung up from his stupor.
No, it's not a stalker video.
It's just Jin, video taping the others. Now, this is very significant, because Jin is seen recording/taking picture throughout the whole Prologue. This can be seen as Jin looking through the lens as a filter of reality.
Jungkook sees Jin first, and Jin joins the others. But as seen in this frame, Jin is the only person Taehyung embraces, leading me to believe that, yes, Jin is the only member who is alive and tangible.
Now we are reminded of the three pairs which we were only able to see glimpses of in "I Need U." Here we see Jungkook and Suga.
Jimin and J-Hope
And RapMon and V.
And while everyone's having fun in pairs, Jin is by the woods, filming butterflies. Now, it's very widely known that butterflies are a symbol of death and maybe Jin realizes that too...
Because he's here recording the butterfly...
And then he looks like this...well Jin?
And also, there's this frame of the pool they're in and it seems to be empty? Maybe it's telling us that its just Jin and V and no one else is really there?
So here's J-Hope sleeping. Probably because he's narcoleptic, remember?
Also, does this look familiar???
And here's Jin avoiding reality again.
And this scene will come in handy later...foreshadowing!
You remember how Jungkook was the first to die???
This is one of the most important scenes of the Prologue RapMon is writing a message on the mirror, and we all know that mirrors are symbols of looking into reality.
It's kind of hard to catch at first, but it says "You must live on." Now, I interpreted that as RapMon's message to V and Jin that they have to live on, unlike the rest of them, who are already dead.
So, here's Suga playing with fire once again, and this is actually something that I've read from other people's theories that states Suga suffers from borderline personality disorder.
Borderline personality disorder is defined by erratic, eccentric, dramatic, overly emotional, anxious, and fearful behaviors. Along with these behaviors are aggressiveness, irrationality, and thoughts of suicide.
Now, moving on. This is Jin looking at a picture that he's taken, probably a while ago. He asks the other members if they want to go there. Everyone agrees.
And here's Jungkook blowing out Suga's lighter. Significant? Probably. I think this shows that Jungkook is Suga's anchor. Or...whatever.
So here's Jin taking a photo of everyone else.
And here, they're pulling into a gas station that looks really familiar?
Oh right, a glimpse into RapMon's past. He died here, remember?
And then he takes a picture of Suga and Jin.
Probably to give Jin a reality check.
Aww, so cute. Hobi looking out for Jimin, cuz you know, he was shivering in that bathroom.
And so I think this is a familiar place. It's the harbor that they were all together in the last scenes of the "I Need U" MV. And here we see Suga and Jungkook have their really cute bromance/romance. Whichever floats your boat.
Becuase no guy looks at another guy like that. Let's be real.
And they all sit down and enjoy the view, except Jin sees something that might, you know, bring him back to reality...
...but nope. He refuses and hides behind his camera.
And this is what he's filming. Taehyung climbs to the top of this scaffolding.
And contrary to RapMon's beliefs of "you must live on," Taehyung jumps off a kills himself.
Recap of the important things from the Prologue
V did, in fact, kill his father
The other five members are dead.
V and Jin are the only ones alive in the Prologue.
The butterfly was foreshadowing someone's death.
And this scene was foreshadowing Taehyung's death.
RapMon was actively trying to keep both V and Jin alive.
This trio is realy important.
Like I said, this Suga, Jungkook, and Jimin trio is super important.
Taehyung dies.
In the original Prologue that was uploaded by Bighit, this ending clip (after the credits) of Jin looking out at the ocean by himself.
And then as if remembering something, he reaches into the glove compartment...
And pulls out this photo. It's the photo that RapMon took at the gas station of him and Suga, except Suga is not in the picture.
This is really important in telling us that Jin is really mental and that he think he's with all of the members, when they're all actually dead and it's only him.
Now onto the next video, "Run."
Run takes off, seemingly at the end of the Prologue.
We see V (it's confirmed that it's V later) plunging into this body of water, figuratively similar to when he jumped off the scaffolding in the Prologue.
Here we see RapMon coming from this ramshackle place.
And he heads to this very familiar train yard.
He opens the door to this train...
And this is where the story really begins. Everyone is here in this house-thing.
And as usual Jin is recording everything.
But we have this odd scene where Taehyung marks Jin with an X. This is being interpreted as the fact that Jin is now the only member alive.
And then we see this cute scene where Taehyung is doing graffiti with RapMon.
Then they get caught.
And start running from the police.
So here we have Jin making a house of cards which V knocks over. Also, Jin is seemingly the only one in the spotlight.
When V knocks over the house of cards, Jin gets this look and stares directly into the camera as if something is dawning on him--maybe the fact that everyone else is dead???
Then we have RapMon and V who are being arrested for vandalism and the look they give each other is just epic.
You see? Epic.
Then it cuts to J-Hope waking up.
And he smiles up at someone. Who could this possibly be???
Why Jimin, of course.
Then they all have a pillow fight together.
And Hobi and Jimin are just happy to lay in some feathers. Aww.
But then we get a cut of RM flipping over this card, and what do we find? A butterfly. Terrific.
Then we get to my favorite pair, Suga and Jungkook. Suga is having a tantrum. He's knocking stuff over and is very angry--my theories of why he's angry come later. Stay tuned.
Jugnkook is trying to calm his favorite hyung down.
But Suga's like, "no bitch," and throws Jungkook into this door.
And so Jungkook gets mad and gabs at Yoongi.
Then punches him! OMG, but what is this liquid that spews from Yoongi's mouth? Probably beer.
And Yoongi is bleeding on the ground, but he gets up.
Look at that smile. That demented smile. Something is definitely going on in this kid's brain.
Yoongi throws Jungkook down again.
Then he throws this chair.
Breaks the mirror.
Which is a symbol of reality, like the house of cards.
And then we see Jin looking confused as hell again.
Then everyone's partying!!!!!
But Jungkook is very aware of reality, cuz he's the first one to die, remember??
Look at him, being the good boy and figuring out that he's dead.
So here's them all having fun again. But Yoongi runs into the frame and looks down at Jimin.
With this look on his face.
And then they all go to a photo-booth.
And J-Hope falling asleep, yet again.
And we realize he's in a hospital!
Which takes us here.
And then Jungkook is looking down at someone, since he's the one who sees the reality.
And that person is obviously Jin.
And then Jungkook is looking down at the camera the way he was looking down at Jin.
But then they're all having fun again and vandalizing other people's cars.
Like this.
And then they all run away without Jin.
But Jin catches up, cuz he's in a car.
And they just drive off.
And then Jimin walks into the bathroom...
And everyone's waiting for him and having a party in there!
Then RM and V run from the police.
And everything ends with Jungkook's smile.
And V resurfacing.
But after the credits, we see this. Look familiar?
IT WAS IN THE PROLOGUE!
But wait....where's Jin???
And why is Jimin burning it?
And now let's go over everything we missed in "Run."
So when Taehyung first falls into the water coincides with the time he jumps into the harbor.
He is pretty still, and thus this starts the 7 minutes of brain activity that allows the brain to trace back your life.
And these frames are really important to the story because only five of the members are given individual cuts and are shown in this sequence:
Yoongi
Jugnkook
Taehyung
J-Hope
And Jimin
When Hoseok opens his eyes in the scenes before the pillow-fight, he's in the state between life and death, and Jimin is there with him.
Which is the reason for the white that he and Jimin are both wearing and the whiteness of the room that they're in.
And when the mirror breaks and Jungkook gets that look on his face is when he goes into the between life and death state.
When the mirror breaks is also when Taehyung realizes that he's in this state, as well which is why he turns to the camera. He finally realizes the things that happened that leads to all of their deaths.
And the this part, when Hoseok falls "asleep" is when he goes into the afterlife, and everyone is there, even Jin who is still alive at this point, and V who is in the stage between.
And when we get to this place, we get yet another sequence of individual shots of just the five:
Jimin.
Suga
Taehyung
Hosoek
And Jungkook
Ahh, and then we see Jungkook, but remember in "I Need U.."
...I told you to keep an eye on these three; Suga, Jungkook, and Jimin?
Taehyung seems to think the same, because as he realizes something about these three, he thrashes in the water, not peaceful like before.
And Jungkook sees Taehyung...
Taehyung sees Jungkook...And Jungkook sees Taehyung...
But Seokjin still doesn't get it.
Jungkook doesn't understand, at first, why Seokjin came.
Which is why we see this ending.
But then he gets it, and smiles--welcoming Seokjin into the afterlife.
But...wait...what????
Okay, fine. Here's what's going on.
Prepare for a lot of words...
you asked for it.

Alright, so basically, the events of the "Run" MV come before "I Need U" and then "I Need U" happens before the "Prologue."

But, since "Run" MV is Taehyun's 7 minutes of brain activity, that in the end he just pulls himself out of, "Run" comes after the "Prologue."

So, "I Need U" as a whole is the past as well as the "Prologue," and then we have "Run" as the present.

So.........
Let's just start with the explanations behind "I Need U."
So, you know how Suga's all depressed and stressed about something in the beginning of INU? Well, theory says this is because of Jungkook and what happened in "Run."
Ya know...this.
And this...
and this...
So, theory has it that Suga and Junkook had this huge fight which led to Suga walking out on Jungkook and Jungkook running away. So when Suga realized his faults, he went to wait for Jungkook, but Jungkook never came, which is why he kills himself (because he has borderline personality disorder). How do we know he's waiting for Jungkook??
Because of this flannel that's hanging in this frame which....
Is the flannel that Jungkook is wearing in this frame!
But why the fight???
Remember the trio I told you to keep in mind?
These three?
Yoongi, Jungkook, and Jiimin?
Ring a bell?
Yea, so here's what's up with these three. Jungkook and Yoongi are like, a thing, probably. That's how I see it, anyway. But then, Jimin got in the way.

"Where's the proof?" You ask?
Here......
And here......
You might be like, "the fuck?" But, I promise it's valid and I'm not crazy.
Yea, and remember these blue roses that
"shattered with the mirror?"
Much like its mysterious origin, the blue rose means mystery. Another meaning of the blue rose is that it symbolizes the impossible, or the unattainable. Since the blue rose itself is a rarity in nature, it stands for something that is hardly within one's grasp, an object that seems too difficult to be achieved.
The reason this is in the scene with Jungkook and Yoongi is because there is something unattainable between them. And to me, it talks about a love that's unattainable, whether you like it or not.
So now that that's over...
Alright, now that we have the back-story, here's the full story.
Suga is all depressed and he's waiting for Jungkook to come back.
Because Jungkook ran away because...
...because of this fight.
But Jungkook never comes back because he gets hit by a car and dies.
And when Jungkook doesn't come back, Suga starts having thoughts of suicide...
...which leads to Suga setting the room on fire and thus, killing himself.
When Jimin gets word of all of Jungkook and Suga's deaths, he doesn't know how to handle because he has a huge role in the crumbling of their relationship.
So, Jimin tries to leave a note, but he burns the note instead.
And drowns himself
Then when Hoseok finds out about all of this, he decides to overdose on his narcolepsy pills.
And he drops dead. Literally.
And as RM copes with everyone's deaths, he realizes that the life he's living is shitty.
So he blows up the gas station.
And while Jin is coping with everyone's death, he goes crazy and gets admitted into a mental institute where he has dreams about his friends (the scenes of all of them together in INU).
And V lives a pretty shitty life as well.
But on top of his friends all killing themselves, when he sees his dad being abusive, he just can't handle.
And kills the dude.
So after V kills his dad, he goes into this hallucinogenic state.
In which he believes his friends are still alive, which is why he calls them all up.
And they all come together.
Even Jin, who's mental.
Even after their deaths, J-Hope is still narcoleptic.
And Suga is still suffering from borderline personality disorder.
But now, Jungkook will always be there to anchor him.
Right?
Also, while Taehyung and Jin are having this odd hallucinogenic phase, RM is really trying to save them. Hence the butterfly.
Yea
And the writing in the mirror.
And taking the photo of Jin and Yoongi!
But in the end, Taehyung realizes how carefree everyone is after they die, and tries to join them.
By jumping into the harbor.
And so the 7 minutes of Taehyung's brain activity starts and he's remembering all the good times.
But he realizes that Jin's still alive, and tries to keep it that way.
But Jungkook doesn't intend on letting either Jin or Taehyung die, so he tells the story.
Like this.
About this.
And this.
And these three.
And Taehyung gets it.
Unfortunately, Jin does not.
And while Taehyung is thrashing to get back above water,
Jungkook looks up,
And Taehyung looks up.
And realize Jin is gone.
And Jungkook welcomes Jin to the afterlife.
While Taehyung resurfaces and lives on.

There are too many, but here are a couple.
