Background Info
The lighthouse of Alexandria is believed to be the first lighthouse ever built. It is located in Pharos, Alexandria, Egypt but was sadly destroyed by many earthquakes, until turned into an "ancient ruin".
Facts about the light house
Construction began in 290 BC and took twenty years to complete. When it was done it was the tallest building in the world at the time, behind the Great Pyramid. It was built on the island of Pharos, to help guide trade ships into its busy harbor at Alexandria, Egypt.

The Lighthouse of Alexandria

The lighthouse was made by the Ptolemaic Kingdom, between 280 and 247 BC. It was between 120 and 137 m (394 and 449 ft) tall. It was Badly damaged by three earthquakes between 956 AD and 1323 AD. It then became an abandoned ruin. It was the third longest surviving ancient wonder.
You must be asking, "why is this thing special?" Well, one reason that it is famous is, as we said, it was the first light house in the world, was one of the seven wonders of the world and at one point it was the second tallest building in the world and the tallest at the time was the Great Pyramid of Giza.
How It Was found
The light house of Alexandria was found destroyed on the East Harbor of Alexandria by French archaeologists, in 1994 underwater.
