It's All About Katie
favorite PD?
what was so great about the PD?
I love using a MAC but I'm pretty comfortable with the PC, too, which helps in a two-platform district.
I attended an all-girls high school in Palos Verdes,
then USC, graduating with a Bachelor of Music (Voice).
While my adventures in technology began on a MAC,
as a LITE (Leader Integrating Technology in Education) and a teacher for Arcadia USD, I discovered the subtleties of the PC as well.

I attribute my background knowledge of PC platforms to my colleagues in AUSD and often joke,
"I'm bi-platform!"
Presently serving as Project Coordinator of the Round 3 and Round 4 EETT Competitive grants for Glendale USD and Duarte USD, my knowledge of the ever-changing world of technology and its application to curriculum continues to expand.
I am presently a Teacher Specialist in Technology for Glendale Unified School District (since 2001) and I have the pleasure of teaching computer and technology skills to students, teachers, administrators, and staff.
[ and now I am a ]
I was born and raised in Southern California and am the eldest of a blended family of 8 children.
My background is in primary education teaching K-1, 1st and 2nd grades.
Not a moment's hesitation on this one!
The ultimate, most fabulous, most informative,
most creative PD was ...
Discovery Education's First Western Regional Conference at Sea World!
I loved the experience so much I wanted more!
so ...
I became a member
of the
Discovery Educator Network
brought to us by ...
I married,
sang with the William Hall Chorale and the LA Master Singers,
birthed two incredible children,
and loved being a stay-at-home mom.

The teachers at my first technology assignment reported to the principal ~

"she gets it, she's really gets it!"

( and they voted me "Teacher of the Year" )
I use a SMARTBoard for trainings in the district lab
I am participating in the
"SMARTBoard Content Creation academy"
in August, 2009
I LOVE using Web2.0 tools ...

( Why buy expensive software? )
I am "well-versed" in multiple software applications ~
Google Apps,
Inspiration, Kidspiration, HyperStudio,
(PowerPoint, Excel and Word),
Photo Story 3, iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes, Garageband
Hooray for Podcasting!
... and getting better at Keynote and Pages
I am a confident teacher who exhibits incredible patience working with students of any age.
My fault is that I tend to go too far, always wanting to teach that one, next step ... oh, well
well, that's about it ... for Katie and
South Pasadena and ARcadia Unified School Districts
provided wonderful classroom experiences
I began substitute teaching in 1989 while studying at Pacific Oaks College
