A map that shows the boundaries of states, countries, major cities and bodies of water.
Moving Out Vocabulary
People who share a common language, history, religion and some physical characteristics.
A person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country.
Naturalization is the legal act or process by which a non-citizen in a country may acquire citizenship or nationality of that country.
Topographic maps shows the physical features of the landscape using contour lines. It is like a 3-D map. The lines are used to connect places that are the same height above sea level. The numbers on the lines give the height in feet.
Migration is the movement of people from one place to another.
A citizen is a person who legally belongs to a country. This person would have rights and protection of that country.
A push factor is usually a negative factor that drives someone or a group of people away from a place.
A pull factor is something that draws someone or a group of people to a new location.
A group that is larger than half of the whole group.
Minority would be the smaller part of the whole. Less than half of the group.
Culture is the way of life of a group of people who share similar beliefs and customs. There are 8 traits that are looked at to study a culture - social groups, language, religion, daily life, history, arts, government and economics.
To come to a new country. This is the process - Verb.
It is the process of leaving the country you were a citizen. Leaving is to emigrate. (You are an emigrant.) Coming is to immigrate. (You are an immigrant.)
Physical maps shows the natural features of the earth. This would include the location and names of mountains, rivers, valleys, and deserts.
