Ancient India Cities The cities in Ancient India was very advanced. Organized central Governments In the beginning of the Vedic age the Indians had small republics. The cities had well planned streets, art, drainage ditches
bulky granaries and large systems of cleaning. From archaeological and repeat historical accounts, it can be comprehended that there did exist astounding ancient cites, each bearing its own distinctive qualities. These small republics had small elements of democracy. The Raja (king) was the supreme head of the legislative, executive, and judiciary branches. The Raja was assited by number a number of officials. Also during the Mauryan period existed both civil and military officials. Job Specialization There were a lot of different types of jobs in Ancient India One job was trading.The indians would trade with China, West Asia and Europe. During the Harappan period the indians sold gold to the people in china and silk and pottery to those in West Asia. Also cotton cloth ,spices like cinnamon and pepper. They had jobs ranging from farming,washing cloths, house wifes, and hunting. Art and Architecture Ancient India's art was vast, diverse,historic and unique.For example the statue of Buddha. In around 500 B.C. Buddhism too over much of India. Because of this it brought mew artist themes. Legends about Buddha influenced this piece of art. Indian architecture was believed to begin in the 3rd century B.C. One of the was the building of the Indus valley cities. Some other remaining architecture are temples , Chaityas, Viharas, Stupas and some more religious structures. Complex Religion In prehistoric there were no types of religion, people only worshiped various forces of nature like the sun, moon, thunder,rain and more. As society grew complex religion came into existence.Each religion had its own rituals. For example Yagnas sacrifices was the importance of fire. Hinduism was one of the earliest relilgions founded in India and considered to be the oldest religion. Within time Buddhism and Jainism came into being with new laws and rituals like rebirth, re-incarnation and the philosophy of carma. Social Class The indian society was divided into four parts(varnas); Brahminas, Kyshatriyas,Visyas and, Sudras. This system seemed to be very fluid and flexible. The orignal intent of the caste system was to provide social structure to the Indian civilization. Writing Over time people in India had different types of writing systems. The first indian script developed in the Indus valley in around 2600 B.C. till this day it is still undeciphered. Later indian script like Brahmi and Kharoshi developed official and local language. These were used to communicate and create documents. etc
