Basic Facts
The first written record of the group or people know as Germans comes from a region named Germania that was documented by the Romans before CE 100.
After many many wars numerous government changes and countless wars in 1871 into the German Empire was finally born.
After the German Revolution of 1918–1919 and the subsequent military surrender in World War I, the Empire was replaced by the parliamentary Weimar Republic in 1918
Despite its lead in many scientific and cultural fields at this time, Germany endured significant economic and political instability, which intensified during the Great Depression and contributed to the establishment of the Third Reich (the rise of Hitler)in 1933. Which subsequently led to World War II. After 1945, Germany was divided by allied occupation, and evolved into two states, East Germany and West Germany. In 1990, the country was reunified and maintains so today.
Berlin is the capital city of Germany and one of the 16 states of Germany. With a population of 3.4 million people, Berlin is Germany's largest city and is the second most populous city proper and the seventh most populous urban area in the European Union.

Last October the current chancellor, Angela Merkel, accused the National Security Agency of tapping her phone.

Later she was given assurances by the US president, Barack Obama, that the US "is not monitoring and will not monitor the communications of Chancellor Merkel."

Despite its poor soil conditions, the Germans
have adapted to make their agricultural
sector successful. They depend on Lake Constance located in the Alps. This is a huge tourist attraction bringing money to their economy. Due to the heavy industrial sections these areas now have heavy air pollution. They can improve this by trying a different resource that doesn't produce pollution.
