Objective of the Study

Material and Methods

Verification of Used Beverage cartons (UBCs) collection by Waste Busters, through door to door monitoring of random households and delivery to GER.
To monitor if waste is being collected from the dumpsites /landfills
 To check if there is any child labor involved in the entire collection process.

UBC’s Collected
So far for the first three months, the amounts of UBC’s sent to Green Earth Recycling are as follow:
Dec 2014: 5756 kgs of UBC
Jan 2015: 7790 kgs of UBC
Feb 2015: 4200 kgs of UBC
Gajjumatta plant
*Walled city authority does the door to door collection and Waste Busters (WB) is creating awareness to segregate Tetra Pak carton from it.

Tetra Pak had been conducting this study of the recovery and recycling of UBC’s for the last four years (2010-14)
This year an extension was made in the study by shift the recovery to households
In order to get first hand data for this Tetrapak in collaboration with WWF-Pakistan monitored the Door to door collection system of Wastebusters

Waste busters should have a strict policy to ensure that there is no child labor in their services.
Use of proper protective gears should be made mandatory.
Steps should be taken to raise the overall health and safety for all the workers.
Waste busters should expand their scope from residential areas to commercial and Industrial areas.
