Porn Vs. Art
I shall not today attempt further to define [pornography]... But I know it when I see it. —Justice Potter Stewart
Improper art, or pornography, is kinetic. It moves you with desire, loathing or fear for the object represented.
If the creator's intent is to arouse the viewer then, it is porn.
Proper art has to do with aesthetic experience, which is static.
If the creator does not intend to arouse the viewer, then it is art.
“Beefcake” magazines, popular from 30's-60's, depicted photos of muscular men in athletic poses and were acceptable because they could pass as fitness magazines
The average rate for a male porn star doing straight porn is $500 to $600. Gay porn will pay three times that amount.
Many straight male porn actors will decide to do gay scenes because it makes more money and that is where the term "gay for pay" comes from.
Some popular gay porn stars use their position to promote safer sex

What Is Porn?
"Lesbian" Porn
The explicit portrayal of sexual subject matter for the purpose of sexual arousal.
Books, magazines, photographs, drawings, paintings, animation, sound recordings, videos, and video games.
One of the oldest possible surviving examples of pornography is a cave painting thought to be more than 12,000 years old.
In 2012, the estimated revenue for the U.S. online adult entertainment industry was $2.8 billion.
There are 28,258 Internet users viewing pornography every second.
Almost all of lesbian porn is made for men and not for lesbians.
historically, very few women have been involved in the production and consumption of porn.
Most of the women in lesbian porn scenes identify as heterosexual in their personal lives.
Females will also make more money doing lesbian scenes than straight scenes, which is why many porn actresses will go "gay for pay"
because lesbian porn is mainly produced and consumed by straight men it falls under the heterosexual genre.
The Culture of Porn
lesbians react to "lesbian" pornography
Behavioral addiction
15% of online porn viewers develop disruptive sexual behaviors
Porn addiction is not included in the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
there is no official diagnosis
cognitive-behavioral therapy is a possible therapy option based on its success for internet addiction but no clinical trials have been done
It is up to the viewers to use their discretion to decide what is porn and what is art.
The US court considers art as work, which taken as a whole, possesses serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value.

Christianity- Porn perverts people and ruins families “But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart”
Judaism- sexual desire comes from the Yetzer Hara (the evil impulse) but so does hunger and thirst
Sikhsm- porn is not explicitly discouraged, only lust which is believed to lead to adultery
Islam- porn opposes Islamic teachings of self-control "And let them not show off their beauty except to their husbands... “
Hinduism- vaishnavism and saivism restrict promiscuity and porn. Their art features nudity but is viewed as expression of genuine beauty.
According to Interpol, "Child pornography is the consequence of the exploitation or sexual abuse perpetrated against a child. It can be defined as any means of depicting or promoting sexual abuse of a child, including print and/or audio, centered on sex acts or the genital organs of children."
A child is not of legal consenting age because they are not psychologically developed enough to make a fully informed decision.
