Fashion designers work on the design of items of clothing and fashion ranges. Some may focus completely on one specialist area, such as sportswear, children's wear, footwear or accessories
Fashion Designers need to:
have an eye for color
be able to visualize things in three dimensions
have technical skills in areas such as pattern cutting, grading and garment construction
enjoy following trends in fashion and clothing
understand the principles of marketing and business
The Responsibilities of a Fashion Designer
Researching fashion trends and staying current on contemporary styles
Creating sketches and samples
Attending fashion shows
Performing business administration tasks
Supervising or working with design team members
Education Needed for Fashion Design
Where does the math come into Fashion?
Most have a degree in fashion design
Those who want to open their own store, company, or firm should get a combined degree in Marketing
Students can receive an Associate Degree, or a Bachelor's Degree
Internships are usually required to graduate, but even if they are not most fashion designers become interns to gain experience in the field

To tailor things for customers, designer's need to know how take measurements, and they need to know how to cut garments so that they will be flattering for their customers figures.
