Assembly: Global Warming & Greenhouse Effect
Transcript of Assembly: Global Warming & Greenhouse Effect
GREENHOUSE EFFECT Hey! What's up Doc?
We all use energy entire day...everyday. Emm... And most of the energy comes from non renewable energy sources like burning fossil fuel such as coal, petroleum and gas. Leading to Global Warming!! So what is Global Warming? The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency defines it as: “Global warming is an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere near the Earth’s surface and in the troposphere, which can contribute to changes in global climate patterns. Global warming can occur from a variety of causes, both natural and human induced. In common usage, “global warming” often refers to the warming that can occur as a result of increased emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities.” We need to understand what Global warming and greenhouse effect is? And how are these two related?
Let's watch a video to make things simpler! You must be thinking.... "Big deal.. How does that affect me?"
Well.. It is a big deal because it affects the whole Earth! Recent records show that the global temperatures ARE RISING! Sea ice melting due to rising temperature! Arctic ice melting trend As a result of melting sea ice, the sea level
is rising. As the massive ice glacier melts, especially on the North Pole, it is been predicted that there will be a 7-23 inches rise by the end of the century if the warming trend is unchecked. This will not only affect the millions of people living within the coastlines, but wildlife too. This also leads to the change in climate. Many are agreed that climate change may be one of the greatest threats facing the planet. This climate change occurs due to the change in temperature of the surrounding. The change In temperature causes areas of high and low pressures which leads to hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes, floods, etc.
Due to a global climate change the vegetation patterns are adversely affected. This in turn affects habitats, breeding patterns, migrations, survival, of all the living organisms. These are the results of change in Climate So..How do we prevent Global Warming? All across the world, in every kind of environment and region known to man, increasingly dangerous weather patterns and devastating storms are abruptly putting an end to the long-running debate over whether or not climate change is real. Not only is it real, it's here, and its effects are giving rise to a frighteningly new global phenomenon: the man-made natural disaster.
BARACK OBAMA, speech, Apr. 3, 2006
Let’s plant seeds of love not pain.
You know what they say,
When you stare into space
There is a loneliness, a dark empty sickness,
There is nobody to care,
That is why, we have to care about each other
And care about the earth.
Poet, poet, I am just a poet
I have no medication for the earth,
I own no tools to measure the poison
that has taken birth.
I’m not a scientist to draw conclusions
I’m not a mathematician to make calculations.
I have no resources of an architect,
to build homes that don’t destroy the environment
I have no historical membrane,
That races back to the past and calculates this torment.
But I have a heart
For I am a poet,
And a poet is the creator of beautiful things.
It is the poet who can see things none can see,
And I can see what our planet has to see everyday.
To tell tales untrue is not a kind deed
For I write flowers of words and there’s truth in every seed.
Believe me when I say our planet is in danger,
It is trying to fight but will soon surrender,
Let’s all get together and fight this hunger
Of destroying this planet who’s choking in the thunder. By,
