Challenges Encountered by 2nd Year On-the-Job Training Students of Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management in Taguig City University for School Year 2013-2014
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This chapter presents the related literature and studies after the through and in depth search done by the researchers. This will also present the synthesis of the art, theoretical and conceptual framework to fully understand the research to be done.

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

We the researchers who study On-The-Job-Training are experiencing excitement and eagerness as we train to
become a part of a company that required in our field in
College of Hospitality and Tourism Management.


CHAPTER I
The 2nd year Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management school year 2013-2014 who study in Taguig City University is required to complete their On-the-Job Training in Housekeeping in the Hotel and need to complete the 300 hours.
Statement of the Problem
Challenges Encountered by 2nd year On-the-Job Training Students of Bachelor of science in Hotel and restaurant Management in Taguig City University for school Year 2013-2014
1. What is the demographic profile of the 2nd year students of Hotel and Restaurant Management in terms of:
• Age
• Sex
• Civil status
• City
2. What are the impacts of experiential learning in the student`s development?

3. What is the level of competency of the 2nd year practicumers take an On-The-Job training program in terms of:
a. Knowledge
b. Skills
c. Attitude
4. What is mostly challenges does a practicumers encountered?

5. What is your possible recommendation to the next batch of Hotel and Restaurant Management students who will undergo On-the-job training program?

Hypothesis

1. There is no significant difference between the respondents and the challenges encountered by 2nd year On-The-Job training students.

2. There is no significant difference between the respondents and the level of competency in challenges encountered by 2nd year On-The-Job training students.

FEEDBACK

Base our conceptual framework you will see at in order to achieve the output of the study the following processes should be under then what is the demographic profile of the 2nd year student of Hotel and Restaurant Management in terms of age, sex, civil status and city address.

Scope and Delimitation of the study

Out of 300 2nd year students in Bachelor of Science inHotel and
Restaurant Management had their On-the-Job Training.100 students of Taguig City University were used as a sample in conducting the survey. This study limits its coverage on the 2nd year students’ school . Its main purpose is to identify the common problems that they encountered and possible solutions regarding these problems. This study considers every aspect of students’ personal informationwhich has an impact on their academic performances such as their educational background, sex, age, civil status and home location. Each of the respondents are given same questionnaires to answer. This study focuses on the 2nd year students of school year 2013 to 2014.

Definition of terms

Practicumer-
is Tagalog-English slang word which means the one who is or who will be on practicum or On-The-Job Training or the one who will go for internship.(Urban Dictionary2014)

Hospitality-
treating guest or strangers in a friendly/generous way. (Hotel and Restaurant
Management, by Dr. Athens and Walton 2007)

On-The-Job Training-
Employee training at the place of work while he or she is doing the actual job. Usually a professional traineror(sometimes an experienced employee) serves as the course instructor
using hands-on training often supported by formal classroom training. (Merriam Webster Dictionary1961)

Hotel-
A commercial establishment providing lodging, meals, and other guest services (Hotel and Restaurant Management, by Dr. Athens and Walton 2007)

Restaurants-
a place where people pay to sit and eat meals that are cooked and served on the premises (Hotel and Restaurant Management, by Dr. Athens and Walton 2007)

Tourism-
an activity of travelling to a place for pleasure (Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research by Dr. Chris Ryan 2013)

Searching -

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research Design
The research will utilized the descriptive method of search data will be gather the mean and frequency distribution will be derived for the descriptive of the variables. Sevilla etc. At claimed that the descriptive method of the research in useful in generating hypothesis rather than testing them however, the descriptive method of the research can go into comparison and the determination of relationship. Good and Scathes further said that the descriptive method of research useful in establishing baseline information.

Research Method Used


Survey research
– Distribute questionnaires of 3rd year students, who undergo On the Job Training last 2013 – 2014.

Internet research
– We used internet to search examples and gathered information about our topic.

Library research
– We went to National Library to search books as a reference and guide in our thesis.

Brain Storming
– We share our knowledge to provide ideas about our topic.
• Read thesis and other studies for re-new graduates of Taguig City University.

Instrumentation

Theseare the instruments for gathering data in research used as a basis for growing conclusions or making inference. Some of these tools are questioners, observations, research and analysis used by the proponents as they conduct proposed study.

Interview
An interview is defined as a meeting of two people face to face to confer about something or an act of questioning to receive a desired answer that is necessary in solving a specific problem
Observation
This technique is used when the researcher cannot secure adequate or valid data through the use of the questionnaire or some other technique. It is considered to be the most direct means of studying people in so far as their overt behaviour is concerned

Is simply systematic search for permanent information on a specific topic or problemit is systematic study or investigating or something for the purpose of answering questions posed by the researcher it includes reviewing journals
