Transcript of Mattea's endangered species

Hawksbill Sea Turtle Scientific name Diet Behavior Eretmochelys Imbricata The diet of a sea turtle depends on what species it is, but some of the popular foods are jellyfish, seaweed, crabs, shrip, sponges, snails, algae and mollusks. Most sea turtles spend their whole life underwater where not much information can be gathered on their behavior. Sea turtles are much alike salmon in that they go back to the same place they were born to nest. When a female goes to hatch she climbs up onto shore , digs out a pit with her back flippers and buries her eggs. She then leaves and when the hatchlings are born the go into the ocean and the few who survie out of the pack will grow up and go back to the same place they were born to start their own family.
Country of origin Sea turtles do not come from a country they come from the pacific ocean, so I will say that their country of origin is the sea. They like warm salt water in places like Hawaii and Mexico. population It is hard to keep track of the sea turtles population because male and juvenile sea turtles do not return to shore once they have hatched and reach the sea. Threats Sea turtles are treatened by costal development, and extensive market for turtles and eggs, pollution and pathogens, global warming and fisheries. Fisheries are considered one of the main causes for sea turtle death and injury worldwide and can occur when a sea turtle bites a baited hook, gets entangled be fishing lines of is crushed by dredges. What are people doing to protect them There are wild turtle conservations all over the world. What sea turtle conservations do is they look all over beaches when it is mating time and gather all the eggs they can find and bring them to the hatchery where they are incubated at the right tempurature. The gender of a sea turtle is determined by what tempuarture the egg is stored at.
