Energy Pyramids
Food chains show the path of energy from one organism to another.
Each step in the food web is called a TROPHIC LEVEL.
The sun is the ultimate source of energy for all food chains, webs, & pyramids.
Food chains are simple.
Webs show a more realistic path of energy
flow in the ecosystem.
Energy pyramids show the trophic levels stacked like a pyramid.
Only 10% of energy is passed from one level to the next.
Sun: ultimate source of energy for all life
