by Paige Ver Burg Composition Leading Lines Leading Line photos are photos that use objects/subjects in the photo to lead the viewer's eye from the foreground of the photo to the background of the photo. These lines can be literal or implied. Rule of Thirds Rule of Thirds photos are photos in which the main subject is not in the center. If the horizon line is the main subject, then it should be in the top third or bottom third of the photo. Using grid lines helps. Framing Framing photos use things near or around the subject to make an implied or literal frame around the subject. Frames usually fit the setting or help tell the story of the photo. Cropping Cropped photos are photos that had distracting elements in the background that were cut out when the photographer zoomed in more on the main subject. High Vantage Point Blurred Background Blurred Background photos are photos that were taken with distracting background which were blurred out of focus by a shallow Depth of Feild.

*Type of Non-distracing Background photo Symmetry Symmetrical photos are supposed to look very balanced. These photos must be taken at the exact center or else the symmetry will be thrown off. S-curves or Shapes Photos with S-curves or shapes lead the viewers eyes throughout the photo, similar to leading lines.
