This is about the one room school house. The schoolhouse was entirely made out of wood . D e s k s and tables were made out of wood . The whole classroom was heated by a wooden stove . The children had to sit straight and tall . Each grade sat in a different row . They used soap stone to write on their slates . They used slates to write on . There were different doors for boys and girls to enter and exit . The teacher pulled a rope to ring the bell .
