MARIJUANA How is marijuana abused? ''Marijuana is usually used as a cigarette.''
MARIJUANA TABACO= nicotine and other harmful chemicals.
Marijuana can also be mixed in food or brewed as a tea. How does marijuana affect the brain? ''Scientists have proven it'' Scientists have learned
a great deal about how THC acts in the brain to produce its many effects, which damages your brain. When someone smokes marijuana, THC passes from the lungs into the bloodstream. It will carry the chemical to the brain and other organs throughout the body. *Its difficult to quit, once you consume it
*marijuana affects school, sports, and other activities
* marijuana affects your living What are the effects? Physical:
HEART: Marijuana increases heart rate by 20–100 percent after smoking. This effect can last up to 3 hours.
LUNGS: Studies have shown marijuana smoke to contain carcinogens and to be an irritant to the lungs.

Short Term Effects
-Difficulty keeping track of time, impaired or reduced short-term memory
-Increased heart rate
-Potential cardiac dangers for those with preexisting heart disease
-Bloodshot eyes
-Dry mouth and throat
-Decreased social inhibitions
-Paranoia, hallucinations
-Impaired or reduced short-term memory
-Impaired or reduced comprehension
-Altered motivation and cognition, making the acquisition of new information difficult
-Psychological dependence
-Intense anxiety or panic attacks

''Such loss of coordination can be caused by smoking marijuana.'' Psychological:
The main psychological effect of smoking pot is euphoria. Getting high is the reason most pot smokers use marijuana.

Long Term Effects -Cancer risk

-Decrease in testosterone levels and lower sperm counts for men

-Increase in testosterone levels for women and increased risk of infertility

-Psychological dependence requiring more of the drug to get the same effect INTOXICATION RISKS Marijuana can cause:
-distorted perceptions
-impaired coordination
-difficulty in thinking and problem solving
problems with learning and memory. Tolerance & Dependence Signs Tolerance may or may not be present. A person may be dependent on more than one drug.

There is some degree of dependence on the effect of the drug, but absence of physical dependence and hence of an abstinence syndrome

Withdrwal symptoms The symptoms of marijuana withdrawal include:

physical tension
decreases in appetite and mood
stomach pain
physical tension
increased aggression / anger
strange dreams
