Antofagasta, Chile

Antofagasta is known as La Perla De Norte. La Perla De Norte is the Pearl of the North. Here is Antofagasta A little bit of history Antofagasta is called the Pearl of the North because of its unique historical and economical importance.......Its beaches are beautiful and the economy is strong. Pretty and strong...A Pearl!! Jose Santos Ossa and Francisco Puelma were awarded for nitrate mines that was found in the Eastern Antofagasta. This is how Antofagasta was first found. Chile's first Settlers were miner's
from Bolivia. On May 8, 1871, Antofagasta was
appointed by the Bolivian Government as
Puerto Mayo, an open trade worldwide. The city first started out with a handful of people. In 2012, the census was 345,420 people. It is estimated that in the next 10 years, the city will grow to 500 thousand people. Many tourists come to Antofagasta for its beautiful geography. The amount of time it takes from the Middle School to Antofagasta is 4,785 miles by car. You would go from Michigan through Mexico and Central America down to South America, then to Chile. I would stay at the Amaru Apart Hotel. It is a wonderful hotel with wifi, clean rooms, and a pool! It also has a good beach view. When in Chile, it depends on the season
or month to know what to wear. Cold Season-May 31 to
October 2. The average
temperature is 55 degrees. The warm season is from December 22 to
March 23. The Average temperature is 71 degrees. Cold Season: Wear a jacket/Sweatshirt and Jeans
Warm Season: Wear Shorts and a short sleeved shirt or tank top. Some interesting places to go see in Antofagasta are.... .....Laguna Cejar. A beautiful beach with white sand and salty, blue, waves... ...Chacabuco. Chacabuco is a town that is also called a ghost town. Why? The history of this town tells all... When in Chile, there are sports teams to watch.
such as... ...Football. In Chile, football is soccer. There are two different divisions for different sized teams and different leveled teams... Division A is Advanced,
Division B is Average. Another sport they play is baseball. Tocopilla was originated from here. They were the best baseball team in Chile. ...Another attraction (kind of nerdy) a huge
library!!!! There is a special day in Antofagasta, Chile.
February 14 is a special day because the people voted it the day that Antofagasta became a country in Chile. There are parties and festivals celebrating the time the country first was founded. Some different types of foods served at these festivals and celebrations are... Carbonada. Carbonada is a meat soup with diced beef and vegetables such as potatoes, onions, parsley, green peppers, broccoli, and carrots... ...Another food served on February 14, is Palta Reina. Palta Reina is an avocado half filled with tuna fish or ham and topped with mayonnaise. It is served on a lettuce leaf. So overall, Antofagasta is an exquisite place to visit and a beautiful country to live in!! By:Emily Rodgers Chile's Flag
