Transcript of The Endocrine System

The Endocrine System by Jack Hannah and Akoo Donahoe the endocrine system releases hormones into the blood stream Some organs serve other functions besides producing hormones
These include:
Small Intestine
Pancreas The hypothalamus is located inside the brain
and serves as a link between the nervous system and the endocrine system . It is incredibly important because it also regulates hunger, thirst, sleep, body temp. and sex drive. However, for this presentation we are focusing on the function of controling the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland is like the master gland. It controls the other glands and makes sure there is the right amount of hormones inside the body The pituitary gland also sends hormones to tissues. One hormone regulates retention of water by kidneys. One of the most important hormones is growth hormone. This controls growth by regulation nutrients taken to cells. Disorders in the pituitary can cause extremely short or tall people. The most common of endocrine problems is diabetes mellitus. This disease is caused by the pancreas not releasing insuline (a hormone) to the blood stream which breaks down sugar. The adrenal glands produce large amounts of hormone when the body feels a strong emotion such as anger or fright. This cause a person to react quickly. Thanks for Watching!
