UNIT 1: UNDERSTANDING PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND RELATIONSHIPS
STARTER
In your groups use the post it notes to write down as many life events (try to get at least 10) that you think have an impact on the development of an individual (2 minutes)

e.g Getting married

Place your post its on the board under the appropriate heading.

Could any life events be both?
PIES
EXAM PRACTICE
Working on your own you need to complete the past AQA exam paper questions on life events.

What do you need to think about when answering exam questions?

Once completed your partner will use the mark scheme to mark your answers while you mark theirs. You will then feed back to each other.

You will them complete any corrections that you have.
PLENARY
In your groups make a list of 5 life events that you believe will have the most impact on an individuals PIES development.

Rank them in order and be able to justify your answers.

Work individually to complete an exam style question relating to the given life event and use the mark scheme to analyse your answers and identify areas for correction.

GRADE A

Work co-operatively with others to understand one life event and be able to evaluate how an individuals PIES will be affected, giving reasons to support your answers. You will be able to identify both positive and negative effects on PIES.

Work individually to complete an exam style question relating to the given life event and use the mark scheme to analyse your answers and identify areas for correction. You will also be able to analyse your partner's answers and provide constructive feedback to them on how to improve any weak areas.

TASK 1
What does PIES stand for?

On your whiteboard write down one life event that you feel has had the most impact on you so far in your life.

Give one effect for each PIES.

Walk around the room and share your life event and its effects with others.
TASK 2
Complete the life events revision hot maps around the room.

You must complete one box on every hot map.

Try to fill in the boxes for different PIES on each hot map.

Don't hover - if someone else is where you want to be move on and go back later.
TASK 3
In your groups complete the worksheet about the given life event for Adam and Jenny (10 minutes)

You will need to:

- State whether the life event is expected or unexpected

- Explain the PIES development for the relevant life event

Remember that effects can be both positive and negative
TASK 4
Working on your own you need to complete the exam question relating to your life event (5 minutes)

Remember to keep your effects specific to the case you have.

Look at the number of marks awarded for each question.

Remember to write in sentences and that names have capital letters.

Once completed you and your partner can use the specific mark scheme and mark your answers. Correct any incorrect answers you may have given (5 minutes)
