Mercury is covered by craters, that may even have ice exist to those craters. Mercury has average distance to Earth of 77, 300, 000 kilometers and from Mercury to Sun is about 57,909,178 kilometers.. Mercury's day side is superheated by the sun but at night, temperature drops to hundreds of degrees below freezing. Mercury can travel through space at nearly 31 miles per second faster than any other planet. Mercury is the second densest planet. Mercury's average temperature is about 179 degrees Celsius. Due to Mercury's egg shaped, it orbit the Sun every 88 days. Mercury's length of the day is 30 minutes and the length of the year is 88 days. One Mercury solar day equals to 175.97 Earth days. Mercury's composition is one of the four terrestrial planets and it has a thin Exosphere. It is 3 times stronger than Earth gravity. Mercury travel through space 31 miles per second, faster than any other planet. Mercury's surface can reach 800 degrees Fahrenheit during day but night time it drops down to -290 degrees Fahrenheit. Mercury appears 13 times each century that can see indirectly on Earth. When Mercury pass across the face of the Sun is called " Transit" it will appear again on May 9, 2016. Mercury has no moon.. NASA sent a mission to take pictures of this planet but it wasn't that successful because it took only 40% of information about this planet it was the Mariner 10 in 1974 to 1975. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. Mercury can't support life because there is no moon, its hotter than Venus but with less fluctuations. It is also dry, extremely hot and almost airless that couldn't support any human life. It has weak and thin atmosphere that also contains hydrogen, helium, oxygen, sodium, calcium and potassium.
